Welcome to "12 Days of Art Journaling". During this time of the year I get really stressed out and thought why not make some challenges to take my mind of my infinite "to do" list for at least an hour. I have tried to design all 12 days of simple and fun challenges. You can make these in any size Art Journal (AJ), maybe you want to try to make journaling cards with an AJ flair or maybe a 5x7 size to print and frame. Maybe these could be those last minute presents you are still trying to figure out. Whatever you decide on the size, make it work for you. If you change your mind and want to do different sizes, that works too! Here in the AJ area we are VERY flexible, remember NO RULES! (Well, almost no rules, you must follow the challenge in some way and you must follow the 50% TLP's product rule from the gallery).

NOTE: You can start the challenge at any moment before the end of the 2014 year!

DAY #7 Challenge: Let's get wet! For today I want to see brushes (or papers or elements) that look like watercolor. I want to see the texture and visual effect that happens when you get your paper wet. So grab a bucket of digital water and let's have some fun! :giggle

Here is one link to one tutorial I did about how to use BRUSHES (in the case of the videos, they were doodles).

TUTORIAL#1

This second tutorial is on how to create overlays but I show how to use the brushes too.

Cath, if you need help using brushes you could use something that looks like watercolor. Check out my signature, it uses an alpha that looks like watercolor but you have the option of not needed to use digital brushes. If you want to learn how to use brushes, I could look for you tomorrow a tutorial I did a bit ago about how to use them.

i work more on this later, i use a brush worse then when 5

Dalis - I would love the link to the brush tutorial. I love brushes, but I'm sure I don't use them to their potential..

I think I used more bits and pieces of my stash on this layout than on any layout before. I am LOVING these challenges. The watercolors are on the clouds and background paper. You can't see it very well but there is a watercolor paper used on the ground under the ribbons and trims.

Had fun trying out different things, but when I ran the different filters on my petunia photo I just didn't want to have anything apart from that on the page .

Have never done much with gradients so thought this challenge might be fun to try and use some. Here's mine:
