Preparing to go back and freeze in Jan - how bad was the temp change shock coming from NZ when you went over New years?

It was actually scarily warm in Tokyo. May have been a fluke so I'd go prepared, but it wasn't a shock at all. Still crazy busy though at New Year's. We loved Sapporo which really WAS cold but even so not unbearably so.

Will keep that in mind while packing puffer jackets, thermals and fluffy boots , while also just realising who I asked. Anything is probably scarily warm if you've conditioned yourself to go dawn swimming in icy water off NZ even in the middle of winter - now very grateful we're not heading to sapporo ;-) (the sapporo snow festival looks amazing but school's back in feb and as you said, way too cold)
