Do you procrastinate? If so, what do you procrastinate?

I'm usually not a procrastinator, but lately I haven't felt well and have let some things slide. I've been having lots of carpal tunnel pain in my wrists and shoulders and it's killing me to type or scrap! I know... the horror! I have to keep scrappin!

It's not like me to procrastinate so much. I'm usually the one getting things done weeks in advance so I can check it off my list and not worry about it anymore. I like to keep a clean house and stay ahead of projects, so getting behind is really hard on me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in a huge mess, but I do see things out of place or dusting that needs done and it taunts me when I'm working on something else.

This morning I made a list of all the things that I've been procrastinating and I'm slowly working my way through it. I'm going to do a couple of things and then reward myself with a little break in between. I'm setting the timer for 15 minutes and seeing how much I can get done in that time. I'm also paying attention to my body and stopping when it's too much and resting. Then, I'll go back later or even tomorrow if that's what's needed.

I keep saying, "Baby steps, Kayla. Take it one step at a time. Take a break and come back. You can do this."

Yep, I have one major project that I keep procrastinating getting it done. Been working on cleaning out the basement for over 3 years and it is no where near being emptied of junk.

I also need to do a clean out of my office/craft room. Time is getting near for the carpet to come out and new flooring put in. There's way too much stuff in here for them to try to just shove it to one side of the room. The other 2 rooms being done aren't as packed full so won't be a problem. So I need to get started on the great office purge! Think I'll eat lunch first ;)

Always. Laundry. It never seems to end, no matter how often you do it and how hard you try to stay caught up, so I tend to put if off until it can no longer be ignored LOL

Oh man carpal tunnel pain is awful! I was having some troubles with my wrists too & figured out it was the way I was doing my chart notes at my dental op. I switched to doing them at the desk in front or the other computer I can sit down & have better ergonomics! Thankfully it's been a lot better since then. It's crazy how much you use your hands for & when they are in pain- it's not fun! Don't over do it missy!! ;)

I'm not a procrastinator either- but I somehow ended up the Yearbook Coordinator for the PTA and am now to the wire on collecting/organizing photos & getting the book ready to go... I would WAY rather be scrapping! Plus the yearbook program is confusing & I keep trying to use my photoshop shortcuts keys that DO NOT work! lol!

Kayla, I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well and your carpal tunnel is acting up. That's tough on anyone, but definitely difficult for us scrappers! When I sprained my ankle this summer, it was really bad. I couldn't go up or down stairs easily, so once I was downstairs for the day, that was it... which means I kind of let go of some stuff up there, like vacuuming as frequently. But like you, I had to tell myself "I need to take care of me." And DH stepped up when nagged--I mean, when asked. ;)

There are some things that I don't mind "letting go" and not doing, like dusting. I mean, I dust, but I don't really "get in every nook and cranny and move stuff" dust as often as I probably should. But I can't put off laundry (though I wish I could!) or vacuuming. I actually like vacuuming: this house is big enough that I get my heart pumping a little bit. Plus, I like the look of a freshly-vacuumed floor.

I only procrastinate when things are not urgent. If I need to do something I get on it. I had to be out the door at 7 this morning for o/p surgery at the dermatologist, so I put off doing my exercise until the last moment after checking for the challenge this morning knowing exactly how long it would take to shower, dress dry hair and put make up on. I did exercise so I was done in time to get in to the shower at the exact time needed... I back tracked the time from 7 so I don't know if that is organization or procrastination at its finest!

Ack! I'm the yearbook coordinator too and I've been procrastinating that one too. Even today and it's on my list. I keep skipping over it. I need to make up an order form and my hands hurt too bad to do that. And don't even get me started on gathering up photos and the yearbook software... :ignore hehe!

Sorry Kayla - that's gotta suck.
I can't think of anything that I am procrastinating on - but today was athletics day and I hate the heat of summer so much. I think I am happy to be gentle on myself with the thought that I just need to get through February.
Here's hoping you feel better as soon as possible.

I am a perpetual procrastinator. I keep on telling myself that I work best under pressure, and actually there is a lot of truth to that (for me anyway). So don't give me a long deadline. Tell me it is needed immediately, and it will get done yesterday.

I am the Queen of Procrastination. Everything. All the time. :)

No you're not!! I am!! I wrote the book, and have no plans on changing!!! I love procrastinating!!!! All my professional years, I had nothing but deadlines to meet and now, NO MORE!!! I sit here at my computer day after day and look at all the dust bunnies, dishes in the sink, unmade bed and just laugh! BRING IT ON!!!!!
Ok, ok, so we will be Queens of Procrastination together, how's that?????

I do my best work when I'm on a self professed deadline - ie. I procrastinate!! Mostly on cleaning and school work...and MOC currently

I procrastinate balancing the checkbook. I often end up with 6 to 9 months worth of balancing to catch up on. I hate it when I do that!! It's such an easy thing to do but it makes me so totally nervous. I'm always afraid of making a mistake in the checkbook and finding out that I did to the tune of lots of dollars. So I put it off and put it off. And I've never really had any mistakes we couldn't handle. And those mistakes are rare. But still...... I'm up to three months needing to be done at the moment. And I wasn't going to do this to myself again!! Sigh.....

I was gonna post in this thread, but
bhahahha
I put it off until now!
I am making myself laugh!

I got so much done yesterday, and yet, I would go by my plants and think, they need water...
then
naw..they can wait...
it is a process, as I have over 30 plants and stagger their watering, as they have to have RO water, and we only have a 3 gallon tank!
I got 1/3 of them done this morning, and tomorrow will soak the worst ones...lol

I do love the feel of crossing things off the list, so usually I am pretty good at getting it done.

oh yes, Laundry is one that I procrastinate. I wish those clothes could wash and fold themselves.

Yep, vacuuming is another one that I procrastinate. Maybe I'm worse about procrastinating than I thought... hehe. But I do make the kids vacuum, so I only procrastinate doing it until a kid gets home from school and then I assign it as their chore.

Oh yes. I procrastinate on most things. I didn't start MOC till day 9. My Christmas cards are still not mailed out, even though we're at the end of January almost. :giggle

Oh the Christmas cards, I've been procrastinating those for years. In fact, I haven't even made/bought/thought about doing Christmas cards for who knows how long. Hubby wants me to do them and I just don't have time to do something I don't love doing. I figure if he wants them bad enough, he'll order some and send them... hehe

oh you just had to go and mention the checkbook, darn it.... hehe! I can't tell you how long it's been since I've balanced the checkbook! I used to do it religiously every month, but I bet I've got 8 to 10 months worth of downloading transactions and reconciling to do for the credit cards and checkbook. I stopped writing checks a couple of years ago, so I don't think about it. I mostly use the credit card to earn points and pay off the balance each month, so I don't ever pay interest. I do check our accounts online a few times a month when I'm paying bills to make sure I have enough to pay everything. Now I'd better add reconciling those accounts to my to-do list. Thanks for the reminder.

oh yep, my plants need watered. Thanks for the reminder.
BTW - what's RO water?

hat's RO water?
sorry
reverse osmosis...we live in the desert and our water is very acidic, it will actually kill my plants, and leave a horrible leaching on the pots too. We have a water softener, but the RO unit gets rid of the saltiness too...so we use for drinking, cooking and my plants.

Awesome, I learn something new from you everyday! THANKS!
