January 19: Clip Photo to Title/Alpha (Technique Challenge)

I knew I wanted to use a photo of colored pencils for this, so I did, but it looked better in my head than it turned out. :giggle Anyway this is a great challenge and I got some great ideas from everyone else's pages that I want to try out! Thanks Liana!

Great job so far, everyone! Wow, you're fast!!

Edited to add: However, I've been thinking about the way folks are interpreting my challenge language and I think as long as you've tried the technique, I totally trust you and you can place the title anywhere you want, even in the layer right over the photo (I agree with NancyP that it looks really great). I'm so sorry for the confusion. Sometimes with these challenges, the presenter has an idea in her mind and upon seeing the interpretations of the challenge language, the idea needs to be expanded. Thanks for your patience with me and again I'm sorry for the confusion.
I LOVE all the interpretations everyone has for this challenge!! These layouts are smashing!

I used a great alpha by Kim Jensen - Stitched Down Folded and the reason I had bought it this week because I admired it on someone's layout in the gallery for another MOC challenge... regret not writing down whose layout it was.
I enlarged the large photo to clip it to individual alphas. I needed to duplicate alphas and use blending modes to get the right effect.

Anne-Marie, isn't that just the most awesome alpha!!! I have used it twice now on my MOC layouts and just love it.

Great job so far, everyone! Wow, you're fast!! Just a reminder: you are attaching a photo to the title, not the title to the photo.
A way to demonstrate that you did this is to move the title off the photo a little, or at least make sure that the photo within your letters does not exactly match the photo behind it. Otherwise, it will be difficult to tell that you've attached the photo to the title. Please let me know if you've got questions. Keep going!

Thanks for clarifying this! When I saw a couple of the layouts with the title matched up exactly with the photo, I though maybe I did mine wrong. But I LOVE how the title is blended in perfectly with the photo! Have to try that!
