Let's play fill in the blank for your December
"It's the most _____ time of the year!"

Feel free to sing your version out loud and make up words that you think suit! It's traditional to sing 'wonderful', but feel free to not be traditional!

This is sometimes how i get through 'in store' xmas shopping, it's the same songs over (every year in every store) and this may be a case of 'small things amuse small minds' but whatever works, right?!

Here's some lyrics i could add to personalise the song.
- spark-le-y
(i love the shiny tree deco's! i was gonna go with 'tinsel-y' but i decided a few years back i couldn't handle all the tinsel shedding and the vaccumming so we ditched it and hence, 'spark-le-y')
- eat, drink, repeat
(more events, too much indulgence and overcatering)
- cha-ching-ing
(that's that cash register noise, their 'wish list' packages seem to get smaller as they get older but the cost keeps going up)

"busiest" !!! Not grammatically correct, but still! Both of my boys play basketball (to varying degrees of success :giggle) so we have games almost every single night of the week. I love watching them play, so that part doesn't bother me at all, but I feel like December zings by in a blur and then it's Christmas before I'm really even ready for it! Lol! I have so much shopping still left to do and no time to do it! We have a tournament out of town this weekend too, so that doesn't help either.

"depressing"

Lots of sad and depressing things have happened in my life between 11/22 and 12/26 over the years that I have SAD during this time period. I just have to go day by day to get through the month and once the 27th gets here I am good. I cannot focus on the joy and magic of Christmas that others do because that just makes it worse.

Not saying this to depress you guys just to let you know that not everyone enjoys this season of the year so just be kind to everyone... it goes a long way. My PSA for the day.

I totally understand this point of view and appreciate you posting about this. I lost my Grandpa on the 27th and my Grandma on the 26th of December, so it's definitely a tough reminder on those days. Our church actually hosts a "Blue Christmas" event for those who struggle with loss around this time of year. I wonder if anyone near you has something similar so you could feel supported during this tough time for you. Hugs to you too!

I have some great family members but they have their own families so their own commitments during this time of year. I have been hanging out with a cousin a lot lately that is like me.... never married, no children and an only child. She just lost her 92 year old mother last month so we have a lot in common these days. SAD is something that is with you all your life... mine started in 1971 and has just intensified in the last 25 years when most of these things happened.

Sorry to hijack.... Back to regular scheduled posting :)

It's the most sparkliest time of the year! and It's the most congested traffic time of the year!

Holiday lights everywhere is what most distinguishes December for me. It's about the same busy-ness as all the months from September to May for me. Another thing that is different is increased traffic congestion. Not only cars, but of people in stores and walking on the street too. Sometimes it's fun to be in a crowd; sometimes it's annoying that it takes longer to get where I need to go.

Hugs to Rene @HavaDrPepper and @Karen and anyone else feeling blue this month. :grouphug

I would go with most "sparkliest" too. I have my tree up and lighted garland around the fireplace and it just makes me so happy when I sit in the LR at night and glance at it as I watch TV and play on my ipad. I love to look at the homes as I drive around our neighborhood and see how everyone has decorated. There is a home at the end of our block that really goes all out with the home and lawn decorations and it is so beautiful.

Sparkly lights make me happy :)

stressful !
my classes piled on the work this week of my semester. i haven't even gotten to the point i am starting to prepare for my finals next week. i have one kid home sick with a stomach virus and i am hoping i do not get it during finals - OMG that would be the worst.

talk to me after Dec 15th and i hope to say it's the most ... magical or wonderful ... or something good and cheery like that! :) :beat

I'd have to say "craziest" time of the year ... thinking work-wise.
Lots of our management staff saves their vacation time until the end of the year - and yours truly has to cover for 2 of the supervisors ... AND we are super busy - which means overtime - so some days I am at work from 4AM until 3PM - other days from 2PM until 1AM and then the days that I can do my "own" job - it's 7:30A to 4:30P. yipes!!

Insane.

I do love Christmas and everything that comes along with it, but life has been so crazy the past years that I haven't truly been able to enjoy it. I thought I'd find time this year to do more things, but we've been trying to close out the rest of my Mom's estate before the end of the year. Much to our dismay we've been running into one road block after another. It's total insanity.

I've been trying to do December Daily, but I've not taken any photos for the past three days. Sigh. Oh well.

I can second "busy" (busiest?) Time of the year. There's still the typical day to day activities (school/work) but I tend to put in some overtime at work (there's extra $$ incentive for certain days), plus music rehearsal for my son, parties, holiday baking, shopping.

We're able to skip the mall Santa because we were invited to a "breakfast with Santa." I'm foregoing the formal family photo this year because of scheduling. But there's only so many weekends left and activities planned for all of them! I enjoy January when everything slows down again and I can do more of the relaxing hobbies - like scrapbooking!

I have to agree with Jenn on stressful! At least up until our break starts...then I can relax! But these two weeks before are jam packed and I am wiped out! Bring on the afternoon of the 20th and I'll be just fine!

hi there Rene! i like your honesty and completely get where you are coming from, without going into the whole story because it applies to several people around me every year. In many ways it is hard to experience joy yourself when you know others close to you are hurting. I did anticipate that someone would include something along these lines and am glad you did because i do stop and think sometimes when i hear this song that 'wonderful' really can't apply to everyone and in fact it can be the opposite like in Blue Christmas. Even the glitter and sparkles can't cover that feeling up so I am glad you have your cousin (and Pad family!) especially at this time of year :)

It's the most exhausting time of the year.

I am a teacher, and students everywhere simultaneously go stir crazy right about now. I don't really blame them. We just do our best to make it through each day.
