Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day! :P

I just made plans with my bestie and her family to hang out Saturday night. This isn't a new thing, but I'm excited to hang out, relax and have fun! We see each other often, (we all went to college together, and live 3 blocks away from one another), but I still get super stoked to hang out! :giggle

Our usual thing is either to go out to dinner (leaving kids home), or ordering in, listening to music - we use a speaker and You Tube and pass the phone around so everyone gets choice, lol. Then we usually play games. We usually play Spades, Mexican Train, or other games. Sometimes the kids join in, other times they are off on their own. Then as the night progresses the camera comes out for SnapChat pics or random pictures of us all - kids too - that we can't stop laughing at! This weekend, we are making some Pumkpin cookies too. YUM! I've come to realize that I enjoy these nights immensely.

What is a fun night with friends for you!?
 
We have plans with friends this weekend, too. We are celebrating the last one to turn 40...today is her birthday actually. We are going to dinner and then bowling. We don't usually go out. We usually just hang out at someone's home. So, it should be a good time. All the kids are going to. I think we reserved four lanes at the bowling alley.
 
Sounds like a fun night, Jenn! It's great that you live so close to each other!

We take turns with another couple to host NYE. They love games but are also quite competitive. TBH, I like games but I'm not that competitive, so it's only nice to play games with them, up to a point. :) It's our turn to host NYE this year, so I need to find a game that lets the other guy enjoy playing but lets everyone else play while relaxing. Carrie's bowling party has me thinking that instead of hosting at the house, we need to try bowling. That way the other guy can pay attention to his score while everyone else just enjoys playing and being together!
 
Sara, do you mean like Board Games? There are a few fun ones that we like, and don't really get overly competitive. The other couple's hubby is on the competitive side. Mexican Train is fun and it's the luck of the dominoes! Ticket To Ride, Catan (though that might get competitive). :) @Tree City

ETA... I think the Blog has numerous posts about board games!

Actually, they're the couple we first played Train with... and they get very competitive. (They want a double to be satisfied before anyone can play another tile, for example, which just draws. out. a. game.) So, that game is out. We have Ticket to Ride, so maybe we'll try that. (I wouldn't try Catan with them. Nope, lol.) Qwirkle isn't too bad to play with them, cuz it moves rather quickly and there aren't a lot of different ways to play, unlike Train.

I'll have to check out the blog. I did buy Dimension based on a TLP post! I got Clumsy Thief for the kids cuz of TLP (DH and I like playing it with DD).

Sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack your thread! I didn't think about "Ticket," which is a fun game. Maybe we should try an older game, like Balderdash. That can get so silly!

And y'all got me thinking that we need to host friends more often. The wives tend to get together during the day for coffee, which is always nice cuz the kids are (almost) all in school, so we can chat and gripe and just let loose lol, but it would also be nice to get the families together more often.
 
We haven't done this since before the kids were born - and they're now 17 & 19. What does that say about us? But then DH has Scouts and I'm a skate mom, so we're plenty busy/exhausted, or out of town on weekends.

Jan... if you fill it with other things that keep you happy, that's all that matters. I'm sure those people that you see all the time are friends, and you enjoy what you have in common!

Donna... what about your scrappy weekends? I'm sure you and DH have friends you meet up with every so often, no? Or even your daughters? My parents and I regularly meet up to go out to dinner, hang out at the local watering hole, and then we head back to play games with my boys... Left Right Center, Blackjack, are big hits!
 
We are kinda, sorta, if you stretch your imagination, hanging with friends this weekend. We are going to a trunk or treat together, well, except dh who will be at work.
Other than that, we keep trying to figure out a family hangout, but we still have lots of littles, and smaller spaces. We do like games the few times we've hung out.

@Tree City I totally recommend Bang, but not necessarily with a competitive person. It might work for him to compete while you all enjoy. We've had that before. But we've also had 2 player annoyed that no one else was playing the game. So it could go either way.
 
We used to have game night at least once a month or so with friends but its been yrs since we last did that. Everyone got so busy with their lives/families and then slowly they all moved further out from the city so visiting each other is a much longer drive. Plus, we're away a lot on the wkends to our place in the States so we're not really available to socialize very often.
 
@bestcee Courtney, Bang looks fun! I'll see what DH thinks. IDK if it's right for NYE but it might be fun to try another time. And we do need to get together with our friends more often. There's another couple we are all friends with, too, so this might be nice for all 6 adults while the kids play.
 
We play a lot of card games with friends too- adult ones like Cards Against Humanity & Exploding Kittens ;) As far as with just girlfriends- we usually go to dinner, drinks & a girly movie! :)

I haven’t gone on a scrap weekend on over a year. I was the only digital scrapper and they made me feel like a leper. I was in a corner all by myself, no one close by to talk to. So I quit going. My sisters aren't very close. My youngest daughter and her husband are busy with their lives. She calls me every day, but we only see them maybe twice a month because they live an hour away. I don’t know where my oldest is. Hubby has turned anti-social and we really have no local friends anymore because of that. It really stinks.

That sounds fun, friends, pumpkin cookies, games and music...doesn't get much better than that!! Hubby and so the same with YouTube, only we stream it the TV LOL!!

About once a month I go out to dinner with friends. We just hang and chat.

Sometimes the hubby and I will go out with friends and then we'll play games too.
