So, first I heard about the show "Adam ruins everything". And he was a guest on a show and changed my knowledge of Mount Rushmore. I didn't know that it was unfinished, and just left because of funding being denied.
Then, there's another podcast I listen to "Tell me Something I Don't Know" and they enlighten me on things weekly. I learn random, but really interesting and intriguing things!

And I can't remember where, but the Myers Briggs test was ruined for me lately. I had no idea the origins behind it or that it was made by a mystery book writer with a political science degree.

So, how about you? Anyone ruin something for you lately? Or, I guess ruin is a strong word. How about anyone give you new understanding to something lately?

hmm that is interesting Courtney and I am going to have to give that some thought.. I know I get annoyed with shows i record (like Dancing with the star) and in the morning on the ABC news they tend to tell who got kicked off before i get a chance to watch the recording.. I tend to do the "la la las" :lalala or change the channel when I can catch it in time LOL :giggle

Regarding history, like Mount Rushmore, and hearing as Paul Harvey would say "...the rest of the story" I chock that up to learning :) I always love to learn things. Prior to going to the UK I was watching alot of British things (still love them) to get a lot of the history background and found it very fascinating. To me learning is always a good thing.. sometimes I may be disappointed that the way I knew the story to be was not that way really, but learning the real story is always interesting :)

Oooohhh... @bestcee those podcasts sound interesting! I've recently gotten into podcasts and would love to add more to my listen to list.

I ruined American Pickers for @Tree City... lol! It was actually "ruined" for me first and now I have a hard time watching the show... I had it all typed out and then decided that I didn't want to ruin it for someone else. Although it's nothing all that major. I've since gotten over it and can watch the show again and just enjoy it for what it is.

That brings back memories of being in my grandparents' kitchen!! It seemed to be on there around lunchtime and we would listen as we ate.
Tracie - when I lived in TX in 1993 - 1999 we would listen to it on our talk radio in the car :) I loved Paul Harvey. I think his son took it over after Paul passed away.

We JUST visited Mt Rushmore on Tuesday & it was crazy learning so much more about it than I thought! The supposedly 'final' model was so much cooler than just the faces! We also did yellowstone, jewel cave, badlands, crazy horse & all the monuments in that area & it was so interesting! I love learning new stuff- even if it 'ruins' it! ;) ;)

You did ruin it for me lol! The weird thing is, since you told me DD somehow heard of the show and asked to watch it with DH. I haven't told her what you told me, but I did watch the show with a little raised eyebrow lol.

My DD and I used to watch that show ... now I'm curious what you ladies are talking about!? @tkradtke

The show/podcasts sound cool @bestcee ... usually it is my husband telling me random stuff like that. I didn't know all that about Mt Rushmore either. So interesting.

Sorry about that... lol!

Should I post it here? Or you can PM if you want to know and I'll fill you in. It's nothing scandalous, just something that makes you look at it differently.

You can PM - I don't want you to feel like you have to ruin it for anyone else LOL. Or point me to an article if that is easier for you ... I'm just really curious!

LOL!! I'm curious too!!

I'm trying to think of a show/subject that someone has "ruined" for me but I'm drawing a blank...my mind has a million tabs open right now!

We don't even have show here in NZ and I had never heard of it, but now I am totally intrigued LOL :P

YES YES!!!!!! I dont even know the show but a PM to me is needed tooo!!!!!!! @tkradtke

as for things ruined....
I cn;t think of one now, but funnily enough, I was coming to post a thread about how much knowing "real life" things about actors may ruin the way you see them/if you carry on watching...

we were talking with Sarita and she mentioned something about (I think it was Naomi Watts) she said I don;t know why, she is a good actress, I just dislike her and can;t watch her .....

I have had things like that...in my case is because I disprove of something they do or say....but it shouldn't really have weight on us watching them act... I can avoid my dislikes in very VERY singular occasions....

Not sure if this fits into "ruined" more like we lost interest. The X factor UK, we used to watch, even spent money in calling to vote...until it went to so low quality, that it was on your face they were trying outrageous things to get ratings.... we stopped watching....

@LynnG @bbymks5 and @MrsPeel I'm going to try the trick I saw in the reading forum. I'm going to type it in white below... if you want to know, highlight it and it should show up, if you don't want to know, you won't see it :-) If it doesn't work for you, just let me know and I'll PM!

Highlight below this line...
Danielle, who runs the office in Iowa on the show, doesn't actually live in Iowa and run the shop. She lives here in Chicago... her daughter is friends with my son.
