Our dear scrap friend, Melissa Dilloway, known here as yzerbear19, died today. She had been battling cervical cancer. I talked with her sister Melinda after reading her brother Patrick's post that she died. Melinda said Melissa was getting worse this last month but she did not want us anyone to know.

I had noticed the decline in her activity on facebook and worried a lot about her. I checked her page today actually for an update on how she was doing. She'd had some trouble with her lungs and had to have some chest tubes but seemed to be healing well.

There are so many more conversations I'd like to have with her. It's a reality check how short life can be and how suddenly one can be taken from us.

Melinda will let us know if there is anything we can do for them.
 
Oh, Kat! I had no idea she was doing so poorly! This just breaks my heart. She was such a kind, sweet soul and an amazing scrapper. Thanks for letting us know. Can you PM me Melinda and Patrick's addresses? I want to send them a note.
 
What??? Oh goodness, Kat! I just saw your post on Facebook but didn't realize it was her, and came here to look for news. I didn't know she was sick! I'm so sad!

Will you shoot me an email and as soon as I get an address I'll send it. ([email protected]) I didn't want to bug Melinda too much tonight but it would be great if we could send notes or share with them somehow what a big impact she had on the digital scrapbooking community.
 
How awful! I remember her from when I was on Britt's CT.

It's definitely surreal and heartbreaking to lose a scrap friend. I've lost a handful in the last 14 years, and it never gets any easier.
 
Awww, that is heartbreaking! Hugs to you and my condolences to her family! I remember her from a couple of CT's and her Disney pages!
 
It is sad to read of someones death from cancer. Thank you Kat for sharing the news and may your time of sorrow be brief.

Oh no! I remember her as well from CT's through the years and also had no idea that she was ill.
My condolences to those who knew her well, and loved her.
 
So sad and heartbreaking, she had also been on Krista's team (Sahlin Studio) and that's where I saw her beautiful pages! :(
