I've been abysmal at returning comments with the new site

With the old forum there was some kind of number tracker that showed your comments received. If you clicked on it, it listed them out for you. I used that list to make sure I returned comments, and after I did, I would delete it from the list. Any items on that list meant I had not returned a comment. I love to clear out lists, so that tracking method was a huge motivation to return comments for me.

Today, if I click on my Alerts, it only shows one Alert from today, but none of the others I've received in the past weeks.

Has this drop in returning comments happened to anyone else?
 
You can also click on your profile and push alerts. It'll show you all your alerts. Then search for the word commented.

I think she is talking about reply to comments made on the forums. I know I forget to go back and look for followup comments. Unless someone quotes you you don't know a comment was made. I've been thinking about that lately because I'll comment without quoting and the person doesn't acknowledge my answer.

I assumed she meant the gallery! But you are right, it could be in the forum. In that case, I just hit new posts, and go chat.
On layouts in the gallery, I just make sure to hit +comment so it auto tags someone. But I don't always respond to a specific comment. I try to like it to acknowledge that I saw it, but sometimes I don't have anything to add after that.
 
I do the same on the forum. But I don't remember to follow-up. I am trying to remember to look at the avatars and see if I have posted. I like to acknowledge someone's comment at least but I don't even remember that sometimes. It's just getting used to a new system.

this is what i use now. the "show all" ... at the bottom of the little alerts pop up window lists all alerts not just the new ones. if you still don't see them after clicking that option, then we need to help you with the alert settings. let us know.

I did actually mean in the gallery. When I click on my Alerts, it only shows alerts from yesterday. How do I see them all?

My alerts go back through Monday. I don't think I set anything up special to do that, so I'm not sure why it would be different. :/ I don't see any way to go back further than Monday on mine. And more importantly, there's no way to differentiate between alerts I've dealt with and ones I haven't, which I guess means both you and I need a new workflow for returning comments. I did the same as you.
 
@Tiff and @lorryfach I am so sorry - I totally misspoke. For some reason I thought all the alerts stayed when you selected Show All ... I have pages and pages of them and never actually went back to the beginning, but I do see now that it does indeed only go back only to Monday.
 
I am on the extreme end of receiving very few Alerts! Other people probably receive so many each day that the time cutoff was almost invisible.
 
It can depend on what alert preferences you have checked too. I think I leave them mostly all on. And I was very active in the gallery this past week ... So that makes for lots of alerts. Sorry for confusing things!
