LBW Month of Challenges fourth week:
Butterfly Basics Inspiration Challenge

Hello Little Butterfly Wings fans! It’s Sara with your next challenge. No scrapping involved this week—instead, Val wants your inspiration! Help Val create her next Butterfly Basics pack. Unfamiliar with the Basics collection? Val creates a collection of wonderful packs—elements, papers, journal cards, and sometimes borders (I looooove her borders!), flair, and even cutting files all centered around a specific theme.

This week’s challenge is to SUGGEST THE THEME you’d like to see for the next Butterfly Basics pack! But that’s not all: Participants get to choose the colors as well, so make sure to include a color palette too! All you need to do is please reply to this thread with your suggestion and your palette. This is not a random challenge: Val will choose the winning theme and the winner gets the whole collection for FREE! But really, we’re all winners because I know that whichever theme Val chooses, the collection will be fab.u.lous!

You have until 11:59pm EST April 28 to get your suggestion in!

(And if you participated in last week's "pick LBW's May BYOC theme" challenge, Val will announce the winning theme, so stayed tuned for that.)
All right, scrappers! Let's see what you come up with! :cheer

Remember that participants who complete every challenge will have a chance to win a spot on Val's team!

I feel like a social media theme, maybe expanding it to include word art/journal cards about online friends/relationships along with the desk/computer/phone/apps/sites that we use to share, communicate, meet and update each other could be popular and relate to everyone.

Child's play!!
Dress up, play doh, bounce houses, game nights...

THE COLOURS OF LIGHT
This is not easy to understand
For you that come from a distant land
Where all the COLOURS are low in pitch -
Deep purples, emeralds deep and rich,
Where autumn's flaming and summer's green -
Here is a beauty you have not seen.

All is pitched in a higher key,
Lilac, topaz, and ivory,
Palest jade-green and pale clear blue
Like aquamarines that the sun shines through,
Golds and silvers, we have at will -
Silver and gold on each plain and hill,
Silver-green of the myall leaves,
Tawny gold of the garnered sheaves,
Silver rivers that silent slide,
Golden sands by the water-side,

Golden wattle, and golden broom,
Silver stars of the rosewood bloom;
Amber sunshine, and smoke-blue shade:
Opal colours that glow and fade;
On the gold of the upland grass
Blue cloud-shadows that swiftly pass;
Wood-smoke blown in an azure mist;
Hills of tenuous amethyst. . .

Oft the colours are pitched so high
The deepest note is the cobalt sky;
We have to wait till the sunset comes
For shades that feel like the beat of drums -
Or like organ notes in their rise and fall -
Purple and orange and cardinal,
Or the peacock-green that turns soft and slow
To peacock-blue as the great stars show . . .

Sugar-gum boles flushed to peach-blow pink;
Blue-gums, tall at the clearing's brink;
Ivory pillars, their smooth fine slope
Dappled with delicate heliotrope;
Grey of the twisted mulga-roots;
Golden-bronze of the budding shoots;
Tints of the lichens that cling and spread,
Nile-green, primrose, and palest red . . .

Sheen of the bronze-wing; blue of the crane;
Fawn and pearl of the lyrebird's train;
Cream of the plover; grey of the dove -
These are the hues of the land I love.

The colours of the Australian bush are a great source of inspiration for me. The flora and fauna of my homeland have a striking beauty. It is a place where loneliness and solitude coexist. Where beauty and monstrosity walk hand in hand.

"Some see no beauty in our trees without shade, our flowers without perfume, our birds who cannot fly, and our beasts who have not yet learned to walk on all fours. But the dweller in the wilderness acknowledges the subtle charm of this fantastic land of monstrosities. He becomes familiar with the beauty of loneliness."
MARCUS CLARKE 1846–1881, writer, poet

"If you count your blessings not your troubles your life is more beautiful."
"Sometimes the paths we take are long and hard, but remember those are often the ones that lead to the most beautiful views. Have the courage to make that journey."
DAINERE, ANTHONEY

Strength, beauty, solitude, time out, finding yourself, relax, home, heart, courage, friends, family, childhood, happy... these are the words that come to mind when I think of the bush.

My idea is "Butterfly Basics: Glamour Edition," where you would use bold jewel tones and include all sorts of bling - gemstones, gold, silver, and the like. The palette could be taken from this inspiration board that I made:

Celebrations. That's lots of birthday but less for other celebrations. Anniversaries, graduations, end of school, 1st day of school, even the weird holidays that can covered with word art Happy ________ Day.

Edited to add: Have basic signs or banners with just a plain alpha (kind of like you see in stores) so you can make your own sign for whatever the celebration was. This would make it really versatile. Cakes with and out candles, just different things that would fit any celebration. And their are so many color palettes I see here that might work better

I'm honestly not sure if this theme fits with the Butterfly basics, but a few weeks ago I was in search of a swim team/swim meet specific kit. I couldn't find anything here. I could find things other places, or I could find general swimming things here but nothing with the actual symbols of a swim meet.

My kids are into a lot of sports, some of which (swim, cross country & golf) are not as heavily scrapped. This picture is a favorite, because it's basketball (which both my kids share) but because of all the different pretty colors! I would love to see something around athletics in general - with some different/interesting colors - with maybe some specific things around some of those "not so common" sports out there (lacrosse is another I can think of) With the Olympics coming up (and GOLF is in there), this could be fun to hit some of those unique Olympic sports? :)

hhmm...can't seem to figure out just an image....do I need to upload to somewhere like photobucket to get the img link?

I intended to suggest light and ask for papers and embies that play with light and deep shadow/color. Edward Hopper was my first idea as inspiration. Now that I've reviewed some of his paintings, I chose to suggest:

Privacy/private/private moments - something along those lines
and items that play with light and dark, carving little niches in the darkness . . .

@tinkerbell1112 IDK what you did (I just upload to photobucket lol) but I can see your basketball pic so you're fine. :)

And anyone viewing this thread but who hasn't already posted... get your suggestions in! We want to see everyone's themes/palettes!
