I wear ankle socks. My daughters laugh at them all the time...geez mom, why don't you get these with pompons on them...while rolling in giggles?
Am I a sock nerd?
they were no see-ums and they NEVER match?
I wanna be like the cook kids! yeah!
so those that wear them? what is the hip way? lol

The really cool kids wear socks that don't match... on purpose. But that's just the girls and my only girl is too OCD (literally) to handle that. I think pompom socks would be awesome! #retro #coolmomsunite

Come to Seattle and you will fit in; it is amazing what you see with footwear here, lots of sandals and socks. I go to the gym wearing my white footies and I will still have them on some evenings when we step out for a bite to eat. I look like Michael Jackson with my black pants, white socks and black Sketchers, but then I remember that this is Seattle and odd is the norm.

My kids are about the least cool kids I know - at least during normal daylight hours. My 19yo old daughter will go for comfort unless she is going out and then she can look stunning but she does love her tracksuit pants.
My eldest son will literally throw on whatever is closest - and yes, at times he has worn Hawaiian shirts with patterned 3/4 length pants, with red socks and hiking boots - it hurt my eyes just to look at him...his girlfriend despairs

I'm one for ankle socks as well. I have some with kitties on them and some with bunnies... In the winter I wear my husbands socks around the house. Basically I like flip flops or bare feet but when the cold forces coverage. Ankle socks, DH socks and even those invisible ones that slip down inside your shoes...

with pompons

Yes!!! You Would Be So So Cool! You name it I have it in my drawer! I have socks for flats/boot/tennis shoes..... and even over the knee socks that show over the tops of my tall boots......

My kids.... no show and yes they never match!

I like bright colorful crazy socks! When I wear boots I like them to go up to my knees. I find that mens socks fit better (I don't have peg legs and can't get women's socks over my calves).

I'm at the age, I can torment my teens with my inability to be cool, or be cool and torment them..both work!

This is so me, too!! It brings me great pleasure and lots of laughs! :p

As for socks, when I have to wear them (which I hate), I am a no-show girl. If it is really cold, I go for the taller fuzzy variety for around the house or under boots where they can't be seen.

My daughter has done the mis-match thing for the last 10 years or so. I never did decide if she liked them that way or was just too lazy to find matching ones haha. But, when she was younger I got her socks from Little Miss Matched.

No show, and ankle socks. Usually matching, cause I'm cool like that! :P I love socks!

Ankle socks or mid-calf if I'm wearing pants (and only those socks that match the pants so they look like an extension of the pants). I can't wear white socks with black shoes. I just can't!

I hate the no-show socks because they always slide down inside my shoes, and that drives me completely nuts. I get twitchy even thinking about it.

YES! This! :dance
I hate socks to begin with, and can't stand the no show ones, they drive me nuts! I have black and white socks that come just above the ankle. Just enough they don't slid into my shoes, but not taller. I also am super picky, and I only have 1 type in each color because I hate matching socks. :giggle This way, the blacks always match, and the whites always match.

I hate matching them too, but I go in the other direction. Sometimes I will buy new packages of socks to prolong the duty of matching that has to go on. We currently have two completely overfull laundry baskets of white socks to be matched. I'm totally horrible and can't just put any two together. I have to match the whites by degree of whiteness and/or dingy-ness (my daughter and hubby's). I also match them by texture and whether or not they are stretched out. LOL. It takes me forever. And my hubby's black socks are now being matched according to shades of black and/or grey as well as texture. It is ridiculous. But I can't just let them go if they are obviously not a match. It is really crazy.

I keep my own single socks in a little pile on my dresser. I wear them around the house to keep my "good socks" looking nice lol cuz who cares if I'm at home with mismatched socks? I have big feet so finding socks I like is tough, especially since I haaaate no-show and ankle sock heights and I can't stand thick socks. They have to be thin, almost like a trouser sock. So I buy them from Gap and I buy 2 pairs of the same pattern (so I can have ONE pair when I lose 2 of them lol). Actually, my problem isn't losing my socks but getting holes in the toes. My long feet must stretch out the fabric.
I buy DH white ankle-height Hanes socks for his casual socks. I buy him 2 packages at a time and I never match up the socks--he just grabs 2 and puts them on. When he gets down to like 10 pairs of socks, I buy 2 more packages. (His work socks are different: he likes funky socks so he has fun socks for work and I'll match those up. Funny enough, he has a few pairs that don't match, like orange and gray dots on one and the opposite dot pattern on the other... but he is NOT a cool kid. He's a nerd lol. If the cool kids found out a middle-aged scientist wore mismatched socks, then they'd march to the sock store to buy new, all matching socks lol.)
