Have you ever been hypnotized? Would you ever consider it?

I just got finished reading The Hypnotist's Love Story (with the main character being a hypnotist), and now I'm very intrigued with the whole notion of hypnotism. I've never been one who is trusting enough to do it, but I kind of like the thought of it.

You??

I went and saw one of those stage hypnotists when I was about 20. Scared the bejeebers out of me how much control they had. This was at a local club in a small town so we knew some of the people being hypnotised, no acting involved! So unless I was desperate, I wouldn't do it.

Good book btw, love Liane's books!

^^^this. I don't think a hypnotist would make me commit a crime in front of a group of people lol, but I don't like the idea of someone else telling me what to do (and I'm not able to remember it). I don't like being told what to do. :giggle

My mom was actually a Certified Hypnotherapist & Licensed Massage Therapist (we are from California after all :giggle). Anyway, I saw her help a lot of people. She would make tapes to help people stop smoking. One time during cheerleading tryouts, I forgot my routine. She hypnotized me to relax & reach deep down to remember the dance when needed. It worked. Past life regression though, nope, scary stuff.

They used to have a hypnotist do a school assembly every year when I was in high school. Anyone could volunteer, but it had to be cleared first with the parents, etc., to make sure they were a good fit. But it was highly entertaining, especially when they'd get the "jock" of the group and have them talk like they had just inhaled a helium balloon. It was quite funny! I would never do it, though.
