Do any of you watch it?
In the UK we are in the 3rd season i think but I just started watching on Netflix....

It got me thinking..do you think is possible? that there is a program out there that governments use to watch people?

I read an article about the Uk being the country that has the most amount of cameras per capita in the world.....

then my mind wonders into other TV series futuristic and looking at Extant.... is it a possibility that machines can become thinkers independently? a bit scary....

what do you think?

I was so excited about this series - the first 2 seasons. haha. I do think that governments keep their eye on you. Even Cortana (which I actually love - despite the privacy issues) has to be "location" enhanced just for you to ask questions. pfft

:blahblahblah:badputer[>]:groan:hummm:overreact:sense:shrug:yesmaster

I'm in episode 4 or Season 1... he (the guy who plays Reese_ isn't bad for the eyes either LOL so for now, is a way to distract the mind from the pain and get on with things :)

what is Cortana? name sounds familiar...of to google LOL

Yes I think some one just have to click a button, and . Our whole life appears, including our whereabouts. I also think that there are too many people in the world, for any government or agency to spy all the time on everyone,so pot luck if they think th e y have a reason to watch you or not.
I refuse to enable Cortana LoL. My phone tracker is not enabled, and I don't 'play games that can access my whereabouts, refuse to have a Facebook ,instagram,Twitter account... and still I am positive that I am just as visible as anyone who has.
As for A person of interest ,end of series 3 I sort of gave up on it.

I haven't watched the series, but I wouldn't be surprised that we're being monitored in one way or another. Like Vivi said, there are too many to monitor all of the time, but I'm betting a lot of stuff we don't realize is caught up in the drag net of surveillance. I was just reading yesterday about a "stingray" device that local police can use to eavesdrop on cell phone use (without a warrant). They can scour full neighborhoods pretty easily. There are no regulations for it, so they can use it at will at this point. It is mind-boggling to know how much right to privacy we've already given up. I just hope it doesn't turn around and bite us in the near future.

It is pretty scary...and I am with you on the whole thing being a lottery, who they pick or not....
Funny thing is something like that should make us feel safe...like it was devised for stopping terror... but as the people in power are greedy and turn into something/someone else with such power......

yes, :( I heard about those machines too...and at the moment, there is a petition to stop the House of Lords approving a law that would mean the government can freely look into your everything you do online...
I haven't got anything to hide, I am honest in the life I live and , in an ideal world, this shouldn't be a problem, but, like I said to Vivi.....power corrupts, I have seen it in family members, people who were amazing but going up the ladder of their profession ,especially if in government....slowly but all get there :(

Now Vivi @Nemla I think not having accounts doesn't much make a difference, if they wont to snopp...they will anyway...right?

Yes, I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference, but it makes me feel better LOL , and politicians of any kind gives me hives.....

My husband loves this show! I do think a lot of things are possible (and scary!) nowadays! I took a photo of my husband and one of our kids the other day on my phone and a thing popped up and asked if I wanted to send the photo to Garret Livesay! I was just in my camera..not facebook or IG or anything! Just opened the camera on my phone! How weird and scary right?!

That is crazy! I know I was shocked the first time FB did the facial recognition thing on one of my PL layouts. It was this teensy tiny little picture, and it tagged people. I have always felt this weird little bit of satisfaction knowing my fingerprints are not out there anywhere (of record)... but that is small potatoes now compared to what is out there. Not that I'm paranoid or anything. :giggle

We watched Person of Interest until the end. Loved it at first but the last two seasons, not so much!

I've never seen Person of Interest but we have started watching Mr Robot, love it. Very much about the power of big corporations and the amount of information you can get on a person if you have some tech skills.

One of our closest friends works for a police dept, getting information off computers suspected to be used in criminal activity (including very disturbing child exploitation images). He will not go near social media and asked not to have any images of himself or his family anywhere. He has seen so many abuses of the media and doesn't want to take any chances. It's only going to get more intrusive I suspect...

I clicked on this because the title interested me and I wanted to see what "person of interest" was all about. :giggle So, obviously, I don't watch the show.

I've watched this show since Episode 1. (I've been a Jim Caviezel fan ever since "Pay It Forward" and "Angel Eyes.")

I screamed when one of the main characters was killed off. (Won't say which one, in case anyone hasn't gotten to that point yet.)

We were promised a half-season here in the US to wrap things up, but so far we haven't seen any sign of it.

Do I think such watching is possible? Ohhhhhyessssss. (I also watch CSI:Cyber.) Between the two, it's enough to make one go off the grid forever. (But then I wouldn't get to play with my online friends.) ;)

Me to, I like CSI cyber. Even more scary stuff.
I do not make and put in forums, pages with children ,who are still children,if that's makes sense? And I usually ask permission even from adults. So my pages have a lot of trees LoL.
It kills me sometimes, because I take a lot of photos of my friends grand kids, and some have the most funny expressions, and I would love to use them for challenges. And even though I think scrapbooking sites are a lot safer than ex. Facebook , better safe than sorry.

Is there a program....? Oh yes. Your computer camera being turned on remotely? I don't even think about it anymore because privacy has long been gone.

But...I have yet to get round to Person of Interest. I only give myself 1-2 hours of tv a night and I can't even keep up with my On Demand recordings or even get back to Netflix any more. Tough life, eh? ;)
