Do you ever have recurring bad dreams? Or do you have dreams where they start off bad, you wake up and think, thank goodness I woke up from that bad dream, only to go back to sleep and continue dreaming the bad dream? Do you have dreams where they make you feel bad for the whole next day (or longer)?

Ugh. I have recurring dreams that my husband is cheating on me and/or going to divorce me (gee... no insecurity on my part, huh?), and the dreams always have him being uncharacteristically mean. Like in real life, he's never ever ever been even remotely mean to me or said anything even semi-derogatory... we don't even fight, so it is crazy to dream that. The last two dreams, he's been cheating on me with a woman who is one of my acquaintances from Facebook (a woman he's never met, and he's not on Facebook either). The dreams are so realistic, I wake up and I'm totally mad at him. :giggle Today it made me feel bad all day. I hate that.

What about you? Do you ever have crazy dreams like that?

Not so much anymore, but I used to have a couple recurring dreams - one where I was escaping from a castle & being chased by the hounds, and another where I would come down the stairs in my grandmothers house, and be faced by a wall of writhing, hissing snakes.....THAT one still freaks me out to think about, even in broad daylight.

yes. i can go forever without remembering my dreams. - but now that the kids get up at 5:30 am for HS, my alarm always wakes me in the middle of a dream. ( that must be my dreaming hour.) i'm always having either a challenging dream where i have to work something difficult out or it is just downright terrifying - (usually involves my family being taken from me!) i cannot wait until summer so i can sleep in and not remember these dreams anymore. when i wake up naturally (with no alarm - i don't remember my dreams at all)

ugh. snakes are one of my biggest fears. i am so glad i do not dream about that!

yes, not so much now... but I used to wake up crying and going back to sleep there was no way to be able to get out of that dream...worse, I half knew it was a dream but couldn't leave the dream kind of thing?

These days, I need to be focused when I wake up if I want to remember....
but I believe that sometimes when searching in the dream books or web sites, you find the answer... and it may not have anything to do with what you dreamed about!

I remember last summer Sarita comes to my bed at 3 am, saying she just woke up of a nightmare where she was farming pomegranates, long story short, most sites would tell you about dreaming of fruits, of bugs coming out of fruit (as in generically fruit) but this one had dreaming with pomegranates and the different situations...
and it was actually something very positive, the meaning of the dream...

I haven't slept for almost 28 hours so apologies if I don't make much sense LOL

Not so much in my later years. As a child I always had two recurring dreams. One was about goblins under my bed that would reach their arms up over my bed and try to grab me. I knew that if I lay right in the middle of the bed, they couldn't reach me, but I could still see their arms. The second was about our crossing guard at elementary school. He was an older gentleman, very sweet to the children but in my dream, he would put a ladder to my window (2nd floor) and climb up and try to get in my window to grab me and kidnap me. I can remember screaming for my mom. They finally stopped in my teen years. I don't have nightmares very often now, and after a day or so I completely forget what it was about, so I can deal with that!!! Question; does anyone ever have dreams that they can fly? I have them quite often. I mean I just spread my arms and off I go. I am very high and can look down on the world. Quite exciting!!! What do they mean?? I don't study dreams. I figure leave well enough alone!

I used to always have dreams that I'd go to school without any shoes on...just barefoot and all day people would tell me to get some shoes on.

Now, I have dreams that will include like a cat or spider or something and then I'll wake up thinking it's in my room. My hubby just loves that because I'll wake him up looking for a spider in the bed. Now, he just says "there's no spider...go back to sleep."

When I was a kid, I had two recurring dreams. One that I went to school either naked or in pajamas and another that I was in a moving car by myself and didn't know how to drive.
Later, as a working adult, I used to have dreams that would cause me to scream out. I usually didn't remember what they were all about, but the scream freaked out anyone else who might be in the house. I think it was frustration over work related issues, because as soon as I retired, I've never had those kinds of dreams again!

Ha! This is a funny thread. My only recurring dream is where I am on the beach and the tide is coming in, but it won't stop and I have to get away from the water. Someone told me that it means I am feeling overwhelmed. I haven't had it since giving up full time work - so that could be true lol !

I am usually a lucid dreamer. Sometimes I can just change the dream myself, and if I can't, I at least know it's a dream and I just kinda wait it out. I haven't had any particularly bad ones in a long time, either way. Usually my dreams are more weird than scary.

OMG YES! I have had the same type of dreams. A reoccurring dream of my husband cheating on me and not just cheating but blatantly doing so right in front of me. I dreamt we are at a stadium (Like a football stadium which I don't even watch sports so I don't get) and we arrive together but he leaves our seat and moves over to where his girlfriend is sitting and begins making out with her literally right in front of me. One night I actually woke up in the middle of the night and I "HIT" him I was so angry! I was pissed off at him all day long and short with him even though he had done nothing. I kept telling myself though that many times our consciousness tells us things that may actually be true that we haven't worked out yet. So i kept thinking that maybe there is something going on and this is why i am having dreams about it. Does this make sense? I started checking his bank accounts and his phone and keeping tabs on him. I had to stop myself because I was making myself crazy and even more suspicious by the minute. I spent about a month feeling like that and having the same dream and finally got myself out of it. I will still very occasionally have the dream but nothing like before.

As a kid I had nightmares of being kidnapped. The story of Adam Walsh had me so freaked out. The living room had these huge windows and no curtains. I had dreams of arms coming through the windows & taking me.

As a young adult I used to have dreams so vivid that I really would be confused about what really happened.

Thank goodness I don't remember much of my dreams anymore. I'd probably be a basket case.

It makes sense and I understand what you are saying. I think I tend to have these dreams when we are really busy and not spending a lot of quality time alone, so those bad dreams could totally feed my paranoia. I usually try to find ways to connect instead of stressing about it if I can.
