Talk to me: White Elephant Edition

For real gift... mostly because there aren't a lot of gifts. If there were a gagg gift would be fun too.

Ohhh, I love that idea! My daughter actually has a collection of them since she was about 5'ish. :beat

I like it when there is a theme with these...whether it is a nice gift, cheesiest gift ever, funniest gifts, etc. I haven't been to many, but when I have it seemed like some people got really nice things and others got stupid things like toilet paper or something LOL. I'm all for cheesy gifts if everyone knows that is the theme though, it is hilarous!!

OK. So I took a handmade fabric midori (like my holiday one here but with an adorable non-holiday print)) with 2 handmade inserts. I got a small bottle of generic (stinky) hand lotion and a 4x4 notepad with Christmas gingerbread men on it. I gave the lotion to my 10 year old (although I'm regretting it b/c she loves it, LOL), and the notepad to a 3 year old at the party that loved it, hehe.

So there. That's my terribly sad story, hehe. Overall, it was still a fun night. My DS came away with chocolate (although he didn't share). Wow, I am Mrs. WhineyPants tonight ;)
 
Ok, you might thing this is crazy but I had a friend who KINDA wanted it so I just went for it - I bought her a SheWee... it um.. :whistleit helps you pee standing. LOL

We gave a friend of ours one of those for Christmas last year and I laughed so hard when she opened it that I thought I might pee my pants! Lol!
 
Also... one year my bible study group did a white elephant exchange right after one of the families had moved to a new house and had just redone a basement bathroom. No joke... they brought a pink toilet as one of their gifts! Lol! USED! Ewwww!!!!!
 
We just had a white elephant gift exchange with our friends. I wrapped up this Bathroom Guest Book that I found in one of our bathroom drawers. It was never used. I thought it was pretty funny. Haha!
 
Oh my gosh! A bathroom guest book? That's is so funny! I kinda want one! Lol!
 
I've received 2 funny ones. Once someone gave me some homemade slippers fashioned out of maxi pads and another one was a friend gave us a razor, shaving cream and close up picture of her husband's very hairy chest, LOL! :cornfused
 
At our last family white elephant someone brought a lava lamp that was the big hit, especially with the kids.

Those are the ones we call Dirty Santa! That is hilarious!

My Mom and her friend sent a frozen fruit cake to each other for about 3 or 4 years. - where do people get these ideas?
 
I got a singing fish for a white elephant gift at work party. That thing was hung on a plaque with a motion sensor. It promptly went to Goodwill!
 
The last one I went to was supposed to be a gag gift exchange. The instructions were to bring something from home, tacky, funny, for a gag gift. But no, people went out & bought new things. There were speaker sets, candle sets, a purse, makeup set, etc. There I was with a Cabbage Patch Kid I brought from home. It was awful. I think my charge nurse took pity on me. She said "I'll take her. I may have a granddaughter someday". Never again.

We opted for something that could be a gag or a real gift I suppose: a selfie sitck DG bought it and I think he intended for it to be a gag gift but I kinda want one. :lmao #becauseiamlikeatrex #armstooshort

And we ended up with a really lovely soft and cuddly blanket. So #winwin
