When we moved into our house, we had to repaint everything (it was in foreclosure and in terrible shape). We went with toupes and tans in the main living areas but now we (my husband) wants to paint the walls different colors. Like red and such. EEP.

Note: my DD room is bubble gum pink and we have one room called the "Blue room"... yes, walls are blue (it's was originally the kids' TV/game room, but has become my oldest teenager's space now).

So, what colors are your walls? Any funky and fun colors? Do you repaint often? Or stay neutral? Do you have lots of color on your walls with the decor? (I'm pretty bad at that, too).

As always, bonus points for photos :thumbsups

We chose kind of a neutral beige for the main floor when we moved in - I didn't want everything white. I hope to paint it something else this year. My office is blue grey but I'd also like to paint it this year. When I was off a couple of years ago I went on a painting streak and painted all the bathrooms, laundry room and master bedroom. I chose a color called dessert canyon and one called sable. Both are darker neutrals but are a bit darker have a bit more depth of color than any standard beige. Easy to live with in common areas - without overwhelming.
I have a Persian carpet in the guest room and I painted that room a dark dusky rosy red to match. Most of the accessories and decorations are from our vacations and and my son gave me a really cool antique map I have on the wall. We call it the travel room. Huge Mediterranean four poster bed. When family visits my brothers and sisters argue over who gets to stay in the "travel" room. Its very exotic. I think I would paint all the other bedrooms dark colors also, but first I need to convince my husband. He felt desert canyon was too dark...

I do not know if this shows it well. Looks more pink in the photo.

My parents paint their house often. Their bedroom is currently maroon/burgandy with one wall that's darker - than - chocolate - but - not - black color. The hallway and living areas are a really really really pale blue. The grandkids' playroom is gray.

Our house is like a sand/beige in living areas and white walls in the bedrooms. I completely forget about the fact that we're allowed to paint, because we own this house.... lol having been in apartments/rented areas for the previous 10 years of my life.

When we moved, we painted most rooms.
Living room and dining room were going for a lighter grey with a blue tone.... Light French Grey or Silver Mist or something similar - came out really really blue. I wasn't keen on it at first... but it grew on me, and now I love it.

Our kitchen was bright yellow... like a deep golden yellow... way too yellow. lol! We opted for an olive color. I loved it before, and loved it after painted. I think it was Thyme Green... or something a little darker.

Our bedroom was a dreary blue... we opted for Saratoga Sand... it's a beige-y taupe color with a warm tint. I like it a lot.

The basement was a paneling... Ick. We went Bunny Grey... which turned out... white. Very plain.... but better than the paneling. Way better.

We were happy with how it was painted when we moved in (John was saying Halleluiah because he knows paint color is a huge thing for me). It's very neutral - everything is pretty much cream with some slightly darker accent walls/areas in the entry and in the living room. They're actually not anything I would have chosen if I was looking at paint samples in the store, but I really like how they turned out. These are photos from the realtor's website when it was for sale:

They're actually a little boring, but our old house was pretty bold - tan, chocolate brown, terra cotta. So this is a nice change.

The main room is butter yellow, the bathroom is sage green, and the foyer is tan. Kitchen and kids' bedroom are white. The walls were horribly garish when we moved in (like neon yellow, Pepto Bismol pink, etc.) so this is better but in retrospect we should have just done white everywhere. Maybe I'm just getting acclimated to the simple Scandinavian aesthetics.

:giggleOur walls are still white.... in the sense like non treated... hihi...

I have been in this house for 25 years, so the walls have changed a few times lol. When I moved in here there was wallpaper EVERYWHERE! I removed all of that right off the bat and for some reason went white everywhere, except the baby's room..it was yellow (said baby is now 24). I even did some stencil work on a few of the walls. Then after a couple of kids with their own tastes, we've had everything from fire engine red, to gray, to bright pink. Most all of that is gone now. DH's office and the 10 year old's room are a light gray, most of the rest of the house is shades of beige, tan and off white trim. We do have one deep red feature wall in the living room. My oldest is so funny...even though he hasn't lived here for like 6 years, he hates it when I change anything. He tells me I am awful for changing his childhood home LOL I thought he was going to cry when I painted over my ugly stencils on the wall. I don't know how he's going to react when I sell it!

hmmm, I have everything from cream to chocolate - like it looked like pudding in the bucket. I have painted about fifty-leven times

The majority is almond and this buttercream color. This photo was when we were putting in wood floors:

In the kitchen and just off to the right where you can't see, our dining room area was chocolate - just like a snack pack. It was all Ralph Lauren paint and I think they called it "Bridle". I love it, but am ready to paint again before we sell.

My taste in paint is "eclectic". In my house I have pale yellow, REALLY DARK purple, sage green, light burnt orange, medium green, charcoal gray, NE patriots blue, a cappucino color and a BRIGHT RED bathroom.

You need to come and decorate here... pretty sure this is what DH is looking for and as much as I love color, I have a hard time with the big picture.

These look a bit like my walls. I personally LOVE the color. And isn't hard wood the bestest? hehe... we slowly got it down in our entire house over the years. The only rooms left with carpet are a hall closet and the master bedroom. Sigh.

Our walls are all various shades of grey with white trim. I can't do color anymore. I've screwed up with my choices too many times! Our last two houses had lots of color (some good, some awful). This time I decided to go neutral with the walls and add pops of color in the decor... easier to fix my mistakes that way! :-)

I'm going to say that standing on top of the bathroom counter with the bright red paint roller made even me cringe a little bit. :giggle

we've had all sorts of colors on walls - including a dark purple-gray. I'm a fan of color. However, I've outgrown my wish for color on the wall. I much prefer to bring my color in using the decorations. Also, one thing I've learned in real estate very quickly is that color on walls SCARES people! so if you ever plan to move, I would recommend repainting to neutral.

That being said, we have mostly shades of gray on our walls. Some of them have a bit of a greenish cast to them. But mostly gray. Gray is my favorite neutral color right now.

Oh yes, reading back through this brought something to mind... if you are doing color but are a little intimidated, maybe just do an accent wall of color. This is what we did in all 3 kids' bedrooms - neutral on 3 walls, color on 1. Works great! Plus then there's less to paint over if you ever want to switch out the color or paint to sell.

Yes, to the color and the floors! We will subtle it down some when we sell though. Next year is our last year as homeowners - we are heading back to the downtown area or beach. So hopefully loft living for us empty nesters!

I like that plan.

I just painted my living room a nice medium grey, kitchen is a light taupe and I have two red walls in the eating area. Going up the stairs is a medium yellow/gold as is the landing. My bathroom is best described as the inside of a Reese peanut butter cup, spare bedroom is medium taupe, my bedroom a lighter tauper and my son's room is a darker grey than the living room and one wall is lime green.

Am playing with redoing the red walls in the same taupe as I have in the kitchen but not looking forward to priming, taping and painting again.
