For those of us in the USA, Happy Independence Day!

For everyone else... Happy 4th as well (although it's not quite the same, hehe).

Do you celebrate this holiday? What's on your agenda for today?

We had some friends over to the house for swimming and grilling last night to celebrate casually. We won't be doing anything tonight specifically except fireworks in the yard with the family (and eating leftovers), so last night was a treat.

Interesting story... our Power went out yesterday about 2pm b/c of a downed tree down the street. Company was coming at 5pm. You don't realize how much you use electricity until it's gone :giggle

Anyway, we altered our plans a bit, went with chips instead of fries. Nixed the chili on the Dogs. And had a great time anyway. We cleaned up by candlelight, then the Power returned right as they were leaving and everyone cheered, hehe.

You don't need lights or air conditioning to enjoy time with friends (although admittedly it helps, LOL)

SO... HAPPY FOURTH. How are you gonna get your Red, White and Blue on today?
 
Nothing special this year.. we went out to dinner for our Anniv last night and have a lot of leftovers so that is on the plans for dinner.. will probably watch fireworks outside later as sometimes we can see from the beach where they will be doing a display.. It may rain so I am just as happy to hang at home! I hope everyone enjoys whatever they are doing!! Happy 4th!

You live close enough to a BEACH to see fireworks from there. How did I not know that? ROAD TRIP :giggle
 
I am hoping to set the kids' pool up in the garage for a bit today, and tonight, hoping we can see the fireworks from our driveway (display is at the high school not too far from us). No other plans.
 
Pulled pork and all the normal picnic fixings and fresh cobbler here at my house later. Both kids are not home for the holiday, so my dad and stepmom with be here and some really good friends. The friends will leave to go see the fireworks either at Sea World or at a lake about 20 minutes away. I will be here watching a couple of loud movies with my dog wearing his ThunderShirt and trying to keep him from being a barking, quivering mess. My New Years Eve and 4th of July are always home because he is so utterly terrified of fireworks.

LOL re: the dog... we have one like that, too. And seriously... you live next to Sea World? We LOVE that place! ANOTHER ROAD TRIP! :giggle
 
Every year we do a big block party on our street and invite all the neighobors. We grill and everyone brings food to share. All the kids bring their bikes and scooters and I bring stuff for them to decorate them in red, white and blue. After dinner they start at the top of the street and ride them all down together in a little bike parade, with fountain fireworks shooting off along the sides of the street. They LOVE it. Everyone brings fireworks and after dark we light them all. I love the 4th!
