*CLOSED* The April ATC Swap is now closed. Join us next month for another super fun Swap!

The deadline has been extended to MONDAY, APRIL 20th for sign ups, still giving plenty of time to get your cards done and sent out.

And for New Folks... I will be sending a couple of extra treats (extra cards from the March batch). BONUS!

Here's a peek at the March Cards...

WELCOME to the April edition of the TLP ATC swap! It's only our 2nd swap, so be sure to jump in on the fun now!

Have you heard about ATC? Artist Trading Cards? If so, aren't they fun?
If not, you are gonna love this! Here's a review for those who are not familiar with these...

This is what Wikipedia says about them (I know, my kids can't use it as a reference, but I can, hehe). "Artist trading cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art about the same size as modern trading cards baseball cards or 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm), small enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets. Cards are produced in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media (in the form of collage, papercuts, found objects, etc.) or even metals or fiber. The cards are usually traded or exchanged"

Our 1st ATC exchange right here at The Lilypad was a great success and SO MUCH FUN! :woot

So here we are ready to go again! With a couple of changes based on what we learned...

TLP ATC 002

Here's how it will work...

1. Anyone who wants to participate must sign up in this thread by MONDAY, APRIL 20th, letting me know you are wanting to participate. I'll keep a running list at the bottom of this post.

2. You create ONE OR MORE cards. Easy, peasy! And you will make however many copies of that card as there are people who signed up. For example, if there are 8 folks or 18 folks, you will make that many cards.

3. Card Specs: Each card should be 2.5 in x 3.5 in (64 mm × 89 mm). You will be supplied a template when you purchase your postage that will allow you to fit 9 cards on one piece of cardstock. Awesome, right? (note: you don't have to use this, it's just an idea of size. And don't "resize to fit page"... just print as is).

NOTE: the template HAS CHANGED to better accommodate double sided printing. So if you participated last month, PLEASE RE-DOWNLOAD the template. I found that between the template being a teeny smidge off apparently, and the Staples employees' lack of attention to detail, some of the backs didn't line up as well as they could have. Live and learn...

This month the theme is SINGING/DANCING IN THE RAIN. Use this theme as inspiration. You can use the "singing", "dancing" or "rain" part as your inspiration... or the whole thing BUT you cannot use these exact words on your card! Yes, you can use words or word art (encouraged in fact) but it cannot simply say "Singing in the Rain" or "Dancing in the Rain". Can be a variation or you can add to these phrases, so get creative! Or you can express the sentiments in whatever way your imagination takes it.

These cards can be all digital or you are welcome to add any mixed media techniques you want to them.

They can be ANY STYLE you want... mixed media/art journal, or clean and simple. I loved the variety of the previous swap cards. It's up to you and your creativity!

Also, these are the size of a standard playing card, so if you want to start with those as your base and create them using hybrid techniques, that'd be super fun and awesome, too! Just a thought...

THE DEADLINE FOR CARD COMPLETION IS TUESDAY, APRIL 28th. They need to be "on their way" by this date.

4. Get the cards to me. There will be two options for this.

Option 1. Print the cards yourself, cut them and send them to me via snail mail. I will PM you my address once you sign up, pay and let me know this is your option. Feel free to use that address to send flowers or chocolates at any time.

Option 2. If you are international and/or do not want to ship your cards, you can have your cardstock printed at MY LOCAL STAPLES, forwarding me your order verification from them via e-mail. Then I'll pick them up and cut them out for you. I'll give you more details on WHERE and HOW to have them printed via PM once you sign up and let me know this is the option you are choosing.

Just a note: these currently cost $1.25 (including tax) per 8.5 x 11 in sheet of 110lb cardstock, printing double sided. Pretty reasonable!

Again, they should ALL be on their way by TUESDAY, APRIL 28th.

5. On the back of each card please label them with your name, date, any title/message about the card, the label "TLP ATC 002" and credits. You can get really creative with this (check out Pinterest) or it can be plain... your choice. Printing these double sided was super easy BUT they do not often completely line up. Using the updated template will hopefully help, but another thing we learned...

If you use a white background on the backs, it will help. OR fill the whole page with your background paper (so there are not white lines between them). ALSO, please be sure that your words do not go all the way to the edges of the cards. This gives a bit of wiggle room in the cutting. Make sense?

6. Once I get everyone's cards in my hot little hands, I will divide them up and send them out to each of you! I will obviously need your address as well, so make sure I get that somehow. In the end and if everyone sends their cards to me, each participant will receive at least as many cards as you sent... all fun and different! EEK. HAPPY MAIL. :woot

7. Fee: There is a small cost to cover purchasing the return envelope and postage. After the first month, we are able to adjust this fee DOWN for everyone, making this endeavor even more affordable! :woot The new cost is $2 if you live in the US and $3 if you are international. That's WAY less than the cost of a cup of Joe at Starbucks! You will not be added to the official list until you check out and pay. And that'll be easy, too... you can check out directly from the TLP store. *BE SURE TO CHECK THE DROP DOWN AND CHOOSE US OR INTERNATIONAL*

Here's your Postage Link.

This is gonna be totally worth it when you get to hold these fun cards and start collecting them! I cannot wait to see what everyone creates this month. My book is well on it's way to awesome-ness just after one month!

OH... that reminds me. DO.NOT.POST. your card either here or in the gallery until after they have been mailed out. I think it'll be super fun to be surprised! Once the swap is complete, you can post your own card in the gallery!

If you are still scratching your head, check out these products by Sissy Sparrows created specifically for ATC creations.

Also a quick search for Artist Trading Cards on Pinterest will yield all kinds of inspiration! Yep, you can spend quite a bit of time there. Sigh. LOL.

And finally, check out these fabulous cards created by Ona... they were done for a Pocket Journal, but you can get an idea what we are talking about...

Other stuff: Please use at least 75% TLP products (plus any mixed media items you want to use).

Remember, this is only the 2nd swap here at TLP... it's a great time to jump on board!

I'm signing up and I can't wait to hold your creations in my hand!

*Note: please make sure I am clear that you are actually signing up (as opposed to just commenting about how coolio this idea is, hehe). Also, please let me know when you sign up if you will be printing your own or sending to Staples.

Yay! Swap 2 is up! :woot You can sign me up again! I'll check out once the store is updated. :) I'm really going to try to add some hybrid fun to my card this time.

Hooray for a new month. Putting my thinking cap on for this one.

OK... the postage has been updated to reflect the new (lower) price and the new template.

Don't forget to use the drop down if you are International :)

Did the right postage this time. Paid my stuff - on my way! Awesome theme!. I'll be using staples again. It was just soo easy!

I'm in (again). Just signed up, and I'll be sending the ATCs to you via snail mail. :yesss

I finally remembered to pay for my postage today. Now I'm officially in again. :) Great product ideas Kimberlee!

I think I'm going to do mine today!

I think I shall allow myself sometime to play!

It may involve some singing... on this rainy day!

(not much of a poet - but at least it kinda rhymes)

Sneaking in here to get my name on the list. I missed out on the first one. :'(
