If not and if you enjoy board games, I highly recommend checking out an Intentional Tabletop Day event. There is a good chance there is something happening near you (last year was 3000 events in 80 countries...I expect this year will be even bigger) and it's such a fun way to spend a Saturday.

Check out my blog post for more info about board gaming and Intentional Tabletop Day (as well as info on how to find an event). There's also a few suggestions for kits to document your fun times playing games!

Cool, There are several here in Canberra, will let my boys know, they are huge board games followers, esp the 22yo!

thanks for letting us know x

That's awesome!

This will be my first TableTop event since there wasn't one near me the past two years. I'm excited to be hosting one this year (lol this is what us crazy people do when we can't find a TableTop Day event near us)!

Just chillin'. Maaaaybe.....some yard work.

Isn't it wonderful that it's time to start doing yard work? I'm so not a fan of winter. We're hoping to get a small garden in either on Sunday or next weekend. I'm so excited to try to grow some fresh veggies this summer.

I'm surprised I haven't heard about this. DH watches TableTop all the time. I enjoy it when I am in the room but I haven't watched it on my own. Looks like there are a few near me and one is encouraging people to bring games to give/swap with other gamers so I think we will check that one out. I just pulled out 11(!) games we never play anymore.

I'm going to go look and see what is in my area. My boys are just getting into board games. We've got Ticket to Ride down, and I have Catan to teach them... and my youngest loves... .insert groan... Monopoly! LOL! (We were talking about jobs, and what he wants to be... he adamantly says banker - cause he loves money - collecting, saving, playing, lol!)

Nooooo! :giggle
It's too bad The Stock Market Game isn't made anymore. Way more fun and educational, but still all about money money money. Plus you get to physically move a slider up and down as the market rises and falls, which is all I cared about in the very early stages playing it. :giggle

I know, right! LOL!

I'm going to have to research games for him. I will not play monopoly - in my family it end up going on for hours and my uncles used to fight over the game/turns/rules/winning/everything!

Jenn, check out Machi Koro if you get a chance. It's still about saving up money, buying properties, rolling dice and getting money from other players. It's a favorite around here (especially with the expansion). It's actually my 11 yo nephew's favorite game.

Lorry, how cool that you'll get to trade some games. You'll have to let me know if you get anything in trade. :)

I'd love to try some more board games at home. What are everyone's favourites. We have the standard ones so looking for something different.

Some of our favorites here:

King of Tokyo
Ticket to Ride
Forbidden Island
Takenoko
7 Wonders

What are your favorite games right now? I might be able to make better suggestions based on what you are interested in.
