With all this coffee intake, my teeth are yellowing. Any good remedies that you have tried?

Also, do you have any natural remedies to other personal care ideas?

I love coconut oil for my dry hands during winter.

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I think there is a charcoal thing you can do that is natural - though not very pretty up front, lol!

Hands... I use an Aveeno product that seems to work well for me. Otherwise, my mom gets me this crazy french cream that works wonders!

For my feet... I use those sanding bricks. A friends mom, who owns a salon, told me that those shavers that they offer in the salon make the skin harder and it will get worse over time. So, in the last year, a few times a week, I quickly rub that sanding bar all over the bottom of my feet, toes, heels and my feet are the softest they have ever been.

I use horse shampoo and conditioner on my hair, bonus is I can bathe Finn with it as well. I use Mane and Tail and it is the best shampoo I have ever used! My hair looks thicker, feels so soft, there is no residue feeling and it looks healthier--no split ends. I had a student tell me about it and it is all I used now. A big bottle (1L size) at WalMart in the pet section is $9.97 for shampoo and conditioner is $8.97, you can also take a small bit of the conditioner and use it as a leave in after you've towel dried your hair.

I've heard this is good too.

How interesting is that. I have to check it out - generally my hair is pretty fine and limp so I'm always looking for what you describe. Not sure if the Walmart near my home has horse products though... --is there an online source. Thanks.

Dalis - what an interesting topic. .....

I use coconut oil as well. both as a cream and as bath oil. I rarely have those calloused feet thingys and when I do a pedicure they usually skip shaving my feet because there is no need. My secret - a hot bath, coconut oil and a nail brush.

Generally I am a shower person but I try to soak in the tub once a week to get rid of dry and dead skin. Soaking softens any dead skin and it brushes off with a bit of soap and (any scrub) and a nail brush. If you do this regularly you do not build up the tough skin on the bottoms of your feet.

I'm not enthused over teeth whiteners because I think they damage the enamel. I prefer baking soda to tooth paste and it does whiten. A high rpm electric toothbrush with a fine bristle does the job. My teeth are definitely not neon white or glow in the dark... but I'm not sure I want that anyway..

I have been slowly phasing out my beauty products and making things with natural oils and Young Living essential oils. My face cream and face wash is all done with essential oil recipes. It is astounding to learn how many chemicals our everyday products have in them and how our skin absorbs these chemicals! I don't have a specific recipe for teeth whitening, but if you search pinterest for this you will find gobs of info!

My feet starting getting yucky after I moved here to the states (that was 20 years ago, so age might have something to do with it). I was always without shoes while living in Puerto Rico or with sandals. I had the softest feet EVER, (again 20 years ago) so I miss that feeling! LOL!!!!

I should probably lower down the amount of coffee intake, but Christa knows that is almost impossible for the addicts like her and me.

Oh I forgot to mention, that for muscle pain and arthritis pain I use ARNICA GEL and ARNICA creams. They are derived from a plant, they usually have other plants in the creams and it helps so much on my pain specially on my morton's neuroma.

Rubbing the inside of a banana peel on your teeth and leaving it for a bit, then brushing will help whiten your teeth naturally. My sister does this, but I personally cannot stand the texture of it in my mouth. I have also heard that rubbing a strawberry on your teeth will do the same. I have not tried this... For an added boost dip the strawberry in baking soda and then rub.

Dalis.. you are funny re the coffee... I went to the dentist for a cleaning yesterday and since it has been 9 months since I quit smoking, the cleaning was a piece of cake ! I told the hygienist though that I could not give up my coffee, or blue berries (didn't want to say I like Merlot too!) I just use whitening toothpaste. You can always whiten with Photoshop re photos... I think the really "white" teeth people walk around with look fake so I don't worry. They were pretty white when I left the dentist yesterday :)

It's been 9 months already??? So proud of you! I get the merlot and the coffee, the blueberries are not a big one for me.

9 months!!! that is awesome news christa. i knew you were trying ... i had no idea it has been that long. big congrats on your success! :woot

such an interesting topic ... the horse shampoo has me intrigued!

to answer about the shampoo, it is in the pet section at WalMart. I live in a town of 21,000 and ours had it so I think it will be easy to find.
this is what the bottles look like
