i usually do a search like for "buttons" or " red" or whatever but i find that ( unlike another scrapping site i used to use) many of the products are not named specifically so they dont come up in the search. i now have a lot of tlp products and when i have something specific in mind i cant remember which collection might have that so i am wondering how people search for what they want to find. or if it is possible for designers to name their items more specifically so they will turn up when i do a search

Well, I do a couple of things when I'm looking for products to scrap with. Honestly my first step is to go to the store, log in, and then search for what I want. When you are logged in, you will see "Already Purchased" for the stuff you own and you can get a visual idea of what will work for your photos. Then when I pick what I want, I just go to my TLP folder on my hard drive and find those products.

Otherwise, I do the same if I'm looking for a button or staple, etc. Just search my HD and then use whatever pops up. I've always said that if a button isn't named a button it'll never get used. :giggle One of my go-to searches is for "Sprinkles" and then all of Valorie Wibbens delightful tiny products show up in a pile of goodness and I just pick the ones that match my page. :)

Finally I have a Word Document that I add a 2" square preview of each product I download so that I can scroll through and see all my stuff at a glance. Usually it's fall stuff listed near a fall date or Christmas stuff listed near a December date too, so I can find stuff seasonly that way too.

thanks karen...like that idea about the store... wish i could do a search my items like buttons etc...and you are right if they dont name the item button i guess i wont be able to find it so wont use it...which is frustrating me...i have so much tlp stuff and just want to use it all... sometimes i find it so time consuming just finding the stuff you want ..or testing my memory to figure out which collection did i see that in..thanks for your tips...hoping to see more from other people as there is nothing better than getting a team of ideas together

My workflow is similar to Karen's. I do not tag or rename items. I used to tag the folder image with different things from the kit that I thought I might search later... designer, color, element, season, occasion, theme, etc... The folder image would come up in my search and I could just right click and open in folder. This was helpful for a while, but the tagging took too much time, so I stopped. Now I search for specific items using the windows search and if the designer has named it properly and it comes up in the search it gets used. If I am looking for something very specific I will use the store's search feature as Karen mentioned and see if I happen to already have purchased whatever comes up in the search. I really do love the "Already Purchased" feature, as I am one who has purchased multiple copies of the same kit. Oops!

Everyone is different in their organization of digi stash, good luck in finding what works for you.

is there a list with the visual of already purchased? or do you have to scroll thru everything in the store? (ugh) i see already purchased under some things but was hoping there was a visual list of all the things i have already purchased? is there?

yes trista i love the window search and that is why i would love it if more designers could name their items so that if i do a windows search they will come up

You can see a list (not visual) of everything you have purchased by logging into the store, going to My Account, Orders History and then pick the Date Period and click Search and then Check All and click Invoices for Selected...

That's why I keep a Word Doc with thumbnails of everything. I like to SEE what I bought. :)
