So, I have NEVER had good penmanship. Like seriously. My only B's I got in elementary school were in Handwriting. (yes, I'm dating myself with that statement)

And in my profession, it's sort of a joke that our handwriting is supposed to be bad, LOL. I didn't have to try very hard to fulfill that expectation :giggle

Anyway, I want to be able to write well. Like Letter Art. Journal with a real live pen, and not just fall back on my obsession with fonts for everything. (Do not read into this that my love of fonts has diminished any... in fact it is growing as I learn the finer points of lettering)

Anyway, I'm breaking out. No, I'm not going back to traditional scrapping. Love my digi too much. But I am doing more journaling in my own hand in my planner and journal. And I'm trying really hard to practice artistic lettering.

It just doesn't come as naturally for me as for others. I'm not complaining, it's just a realization that I've known forever (3rd grade B, remember, hehe)

Maybe if I get good enough at it, I'll scan some doodles in for my digi pages.

So, do you doodle? Do any Art Lettering or Creative Lettering?

Do you have an IRL journal or sketch pad or smash book?

Do you scan art you create for your digital or hybrid pages?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Ugh. My handwriting is atrocious to say the least. People I work with always laugh and say I have guys handwriting and I actually had one guy flat out tell me I was lying when I told him something written on a print, was written by me. He said no way could a girls handwriting be that bad.

So no, I do not doodle at all. I did however make a font with my handwriting and force myself to use it on occasion so my kids will have an example of my writing.

horrible handwriting, mostly bc i hate writing by hand and am always trying to rush through it. my kids can never read my notes or lists. and sometimes i can't either. i also tend to write differently from moment to moment ... i am not consistent at all with my handwriting.

jen, my parents just found an old elementary report card of mine. i got all honors except for in penmanship (dating myself too, lol!) i ran Bs and even a C- one marking period! in the comments section: the teacher said i was an excellent student, but really needed to focus more on my penmanship! lol

I have great handwriting. I was always chosen as secretary when we had groups in school. :giggle

I'm not artistic in that sense, though, so I don't doodle or do anything else by hand. I take notes at church because writing things down helps me remember them better (photographic memory), but that's usually all the writing (or otherwise) I do with my hands besides the grocery list.

I don't love my writing but I get compliments on it often. I don't write the same all the time either, I think I have about three different versions, print, cursive and combo. I've always been a doodler and I do use my own doodles and writing on my pages sometimes. I don't use a mouse and am completely dependent on my tablet so doodling on a page is no biggy for me.

my handwriting can be really neat and at times really awful. depends on how distracted I am and how busy I get. I still paper scrapbook and do paper PL and have to write down what I want to journal on a scrap piece of paper before I do the actual journaling b/c my mind is faster than my pen and I get really sloppy. :( As I get older my handwriting is messier. But I love playing with lettering and wish I had more time to practice.

I like my handwriting. I have a few styles, lol.... short and squat, taller, and messy. I doodle when I'm on the phone at work... and I used to doodle and cover a notebook paper... but not since forever! I'll sketch a little here and there, but nothing big.

Well, euh, my handwriting is good I think. It has a lot of round things going on.
But I'm not so artistic I can do calligraphy or start skribbling nice things.
They always look so childish...
So I hide them really really fast!!!

My writing is half printing, half cursive but not loopy or fancy. I don't like my writing at all but I do like my signature if that makes sense. I'm a lefty so it's all about the pen, very picky about that and wish I could use some of those gel pens but the smear factor is what it's all about.

I have, only this week, started to embrace my handwriting. I'm thinking about journaling by hand, then scanning and adding to digital layouts at the moment. I haven't tried yet!

I like my handwriting but I feel over the years with not "writing" as much and typing on a PC you get out of "Practice" :) I do calligraphy too and after not doing that in years to pick up a pen and write in calligraphy on my Brother & Sister in Law's Wedding certificate this past may was nerve racking as I didn't want to mess up, yet welcoming at the same time, like welcoming back an old friend. I really need to write more.

I dislike my handwriting.. my siggy below is my handwriting which I scan.. I am planning to start scanning my doodles to add on my digital pages...

I think I'm middle of the road. My writing isn't great but it's not terrible. It's legible but slightly messy. I don't know if it's a leftie thing but I can write in a few different styles...right slant, straight and backward slant. I doodle a bit with my tablet, especially little things like stars, hearts, string, swirls, etc but am not especially crafty at it. I did design my photog biz branding with my initials which I drew with my tablet but that took longer than I would normally want to play around with that kind of thing.

I've always had very neat penmanship. It got prettier in high school after my grandmother and I took a calligraphy course together. It got even neater and prettier in college when I took architecture and drafting classes. I constantly get compliments when people see my handwriting. I keep a journal - but I do not doodle or draw. I'm a digi-girl for that sort of stuff.

My handwriting has gotten so bad! And I'm a lefty so that means everything gets smudged and even messier. The only thing I really hand write regularly is my to-do list at work. I do have fonts of my handwriting though because I think it adds such a nice touch to my scrapping - makes it feel a little more personal.

I like my handwriting. Now, did you know that (at least here is IL) they removed teaching cursive to kids from the curriculum?

Here, too!!! THey still teach it in 3rd grade at our school, but they dont' really spend much time on it. My 5th grader can't really write in cursive. It's sad. I think I might get a book or something to teach him. He struggles with his k and his z, which are pretty vital in his name- Luke Kratzer. Ha ha...
