Have you ever cooked something and had to throw it away of how awful it was? Yep, that was me today. I tried making a butternut squash soup and it ended up in down the drain. It was HORRIBLE! So what's your cooking disaster story?

It has happened, but only a couple of times. It was some sort of sweet potato peanut butter soup and several years ago now, but we still laugh about it!

every single time i grill i end up with charred meat. like charcoal. every.single.time. i put it ont he grill and get distracted doing something else and forget to go back. (or maybe it's my way of never having to grill?)

we got some venison(deer meat) and I think it may have been bad, but I made like a shepherd's pie with it. The longer it cooked the worse it smelled...my husband walked with me as I threw it and the pot I made it into the back dumpster! lol

It took me a long time to grill chicken well. It used to char really badly while being too pink in the middle. I can't count the amount of times it went in the garbage. Thankfully I always had hotdogs on hand. I remember a few teriyaki steaks being tossed too bc I would char it before it cooked in the middle. I started watching the cooking channel and learned to BBQ better.

some days it just doesn't pay to step foot in the kitchen! I have had plenty of throw outs :D

usually not a meal ... but deft'ly things overcooked/burned in the toaster ... all the time.

The best thing to do with Butternut Squash is to roast it up with a wedged onion and a couple of red peppers because on its own its a bit lame, and then scrunch a load of salt and black pepper on top too. Then take it out the oven, peel the BNS, and then pop it all in a big pan with some stock (I use chicken, but you could equally use vegetable if you're vegetarian) and simmer it for an hour or so. Then I let it cool and then I pop it in small batches into my blender. It's a load of work, but so great to fill a load of containers in the freezer :D

I remember the first time I ever cooked for my husband when we were just housemates (before we dated), I was making a cheese and bacon pasta bake... and I burned the cheese sauce. Instead of confessing or starting again, I began adding random things from the cupboard to try to make it edible... a bit of garlic powder, some oregano, some chili flakes... then some mustard... a teaspoon of sugar... it got a little crazy.

To be fair to him, Nick ate EVERY mouthful of it and to this day claims 'it really wasn't that bad' but I KNOW it was the most disgusting thing I have ever cooked and served to anyone! hahaha!

Yeah, I think I've had a couple trial recipes that were nasty and/or didn't turn out like they were supposed to, but it has to be pretty bad for me to throw away anything I put the effort into cooking into the trash. First we have to struggle through eating a serving and THEN if I deem it unworthy does it go in the trash.

The most recent thing was a recipe with basil and chick peas and I can't remember what else, but I served it up and my kids took a bite and said it was gross and I really laid into them about how they need to be careful what they say about a meal I spent time cooking for them and after they apologized, I took a bite and said... it was gross! LOL!

My first homemade pizza! The crust was as hard as stone! The dog wouldn't even lick it!

I've burned the bottoms of what seems like hundreds of cookies!! Meals, though, no. I tend to undercook those. LOL Then everyone is waiting and waiting on it to cook thru...

LOL if the dog won't eat it, that's pretty bad. My dogs aren't very discerning.

Yeah this soup was horrible and lame and no flavor, so I started dumping stuff in it and just made it worse. I really tried eating it but couldn't. Then this conversation took place:
me: Hun, don't bother with the soup is horrible.
hubby: It can't be that bad, I'll eat it.
5 mins later
hubby: crap, that was horrible.
me: *giggled* Did you eat it?
hubby: HELL NO!

Always trust a dog with food and people.

My disaster happened years ago. Jeff and I hadn't been dating for very long and I really wanted to cook a nice meal for him. I choose Chicken Parmigiana. A dish/item I had never cooked myself before. Technically not supposed to be something difficult to do (as per my understanding) but as it turns out my version was a terrible representation :/...oh well

I made a cake the dog wouldn't eat. My grandfather ate it though (or at least I think he did... I was about 10). Since then, my first turkey didn't defrost all the way, chargrilled pork that was terrible, soup that I accidentally doubled the salt...

yep. I made some gluten/dairy free cauliflower/potato soup yesterday. it was supposed to have cream and cheese in it, but I thought it would be ok without. wrong. it's ick! it's in the fridge, I'm not sure why. a friend suggested putting some sweet potato so I'll try that before I throw it out.
