As most of you know we have been on a rollercoaster ride of wildness with the state Children Youth Family Department (foster system) here in my not so great state of New Mexico.
It hit an all time insanity yesterday, so I contacted the Governor of our state and all my representatives. They are form letters, but they say I will get some kind of response.
I am wondering , have you ever gotten that fed up you contacted BIG wigs?
How did it go?

Nope. I'm too chicken usually, but I haven't had a situation that NEEDED the contact like it sounds like you did. I sure hope you get your issues resolved quickly Anne!

Not the boss boss boss. I did go off on the manager at Great Clips. My daughter went in for a bang trim and came back with the most messed up head of hair ever. There were uneven layers. They pulled several inches from her crown forward to make NEW bangs. Ummm, that isn't a trim, that's a whole new awful haircut. I am not kidding when I say it will take YEARS to grow it back out. Her Dad took her. He didn't even notice until I pointed it out but, then again, I didn't really get a chance to see how bad it was until after her bath when I was combing out her hair that night. Yea, that refund of $5 won't help me. The attitude was what ticked me off the most. I bought a pair of good scissors for hair and I trim it now (yay youtube!) Nothing at all like what you're going through though, that sounds like quite a pita. :(

I'm pretty easy going generally speaking, so I never find the need to go higher up. But I would if the need arose. My husband says I way overreact if I think someone has screwed me over. :giggle

A few months ago I wrote letters to our state reps. In our state, hearing aids and audiology services are not considered medically necessary and therefore do not have to be covered by health insurance. As a mama of a kiddo that has profound hearing loss in one ear, this really blows. A rep in my hometown brought forward a bill to require health insurance companies to cover audiology services and hearing aids. So, I wrote letters to all of our reps encouraging them to vote for the bill.

That's about as crazy as I get. :) I'm a chicken.

(also, the bill was voted down b/c there are still too many idiots that don't think hearing loss is a medical condition, apparently.)

we, as a family deft'ly have. i remember a silly one ... we were at Ruby Tuesday's when the kids were wee little ones ... they were having grilled cheese sandwiches. our meals came out first, which was totally weird. how do you serve a family of 4 by giving the adults their meals first? by like 10 minutes... when the grilled cheeses finally arrived they looked burnt, but scraped. (i know bc I've done this at home) but come on this is a restaurant. my son pulled his gross, 10 minute late, grilled cheese sandwich apart and we found they used the end of the bread for his sandwich. the end was turned to the inside to "hide" it. come on, kids don't like crust usually, let alone the entire end piece of a loaf of bread. the waitress was "sorry". that was it and walked away. so we asked for the mgr. they took the kids meals off our bill but weren't too nice. so my husband wrote a letter to "Mrs. Tuesday" and sent it to their corp office. we never heard back from them, so we have never, ever visited their restaurant again. i know there are others, but that is the one that always comes to my mind.

Yes. Probably way too often. I can tell you, after years of working in hospitality, if you screw up our food, and ignore it, your manager, and corporate will hear about it.
My best story is complaining to my senator when the fbi wouldn't get it adoption paperwork done in a speedy fashion, or respond back to us. The senator got it done. I also believe in the karma of compliments, so higher ups get those emails as well.

Good for you, Anne!

On a weekly basis I contact senators/reps. And state officials about something directly related to me? I've done it a few times. The most recent was to contact the state's attorney general... not that he did his job and cared about it. LOL.

I had looked over my credit report and found a "bad debt" that wasn't mine. I had to end up filing a police report for identity theft, only it wasn't a person stealing my identity. A collection agency had an account for a woman "Jessica Titus," which is my daughter's name. But it wasn't my daughter's account. It was for some other Jessica Titus who also had a mom named Kim. So the collection agency decided to just apply it to my credit report, which was completely insane and ridiculous. First of all, my name is no longer Kim Titus, and how on earth can they add something to your credit report when it isn't even a related social security number, AND how can they try to pin something on a parent when it is an adult child's account... not to mention the fact that it wasn't even our family?!?! So I had it removed from my credit report and contacted the attorney general's office about it because I thought that was completely over-the-top on the part of the collection agency. Of course they denied it, and the attorney general believed that they didn't intentionally do something... whatever.

I do this too. I make sure to send an email or tweet to the company when someone goes out of their way. Recently, I took my daughter and her friend by the McD's drive thru after school on the way to gymnastics, because I was lazy and didn't pack a healthy snack haha. The manager working the drive-thru chatted with the girls, who wanted to roll down a window and say hi. She ended up giving them free McFlurrys, loaded I might add, with their choice of candy. So very sweet of her!

I contact legislators all the time. As a teacher, I do it when there are issues regarding budgets and things. As of right now, the state I work in has not approved a budget and we are all left hanging, wondering how it's going to affect us in the coming months if they don't hurry up and do something.

I've also contacted out Attorney General in the past over some charges I was being harassed about from out of state.

Nothing as big as an elected official, but once I went to Auto Zone & waited in line to ask a question. When it was my turn, the guy TOTALLY IGNORED ME & went to the man behind me. I was so ****ed because I knew it was because I was female. I knew exactly what I needed but needed confirmation. I was too shy to say anything so I left VERY ANGRY. By the time I got home, I was so infuriated that I called to talk to the manager. I told my story & chewed his butt. Turns out that it was the manager who ignored me. He apologized profusely & said if I wanted to come back, he'd have the part for me & he'd even put it in my car. DONE DEAL! I hope he learned a lesson that not all women are idiots when it comes to cars. ARGH!!!!
