Have you met any of your online friends IRL? How was it?

I've met tons, and even vacationed with some!

My "Pregnant Due November 1996" group (From Prodigy!!) is still together and we see each other occasionally, how wild is that?

Yep! I have some similar friends (Feb 2005 Due Date Buddies - DDBs) that I met in May/June 2004 and a few I talk to daily, still. I've met several of those ladies (one more than once and we've stayed at their house a few times). I have met Som (who I met through digi scrapping!) and Bryn (who I also met through digi scrapping).

It took my family awhile to not be totally freaked out by it (especially when Eric and I flew to Tennessee to stay with Amber) but as we weren't murdered when we got there, I think they're ok with it now. :D

Yes, I have met lots of digi scrapping friends over the past decade+. I've vacationed in Washington, D.C. and Washington state with some of them, stayed at several of their houses, attended three meet 'n' greets and a convention, and a former digi scrapper took the photos at my wedding.

There are also a few online boys that I met IRL in college, but we won't get into that. :giggle

I met one person from two peas when I did a swap. I met a bunch of scrap orchard people at the Utah Expo (where they gave me a hard time about my lilypad sticker, all in good fun:D). And I've met some people from a Homeschool forum that I met online first. But that's it.

Sometimes I think it would be fun to meet people who get me. But other times I like the mystery of online only.

My sister is dating a boy she met online, and planning on marrying him next year. They've been together 2 years now. My parents were worried about it at first, but they've meet him and his family now, so it's just like any boyfriend.

Yep! I was part of an admin team at another site a very long, long, long time ago. It was actually a ton of fun and they were just like I thought they'd be. And I was a member of Marine Moms back when my son joined in 2003. Those women really knew how to cheer me up when all the news was focused on Iraq and the war.

Both my ex and my current husband were online matchmaking website members that I met. :)

There were just a handful of boys that I met in college that I'm lucky to have made it through my encounter with them. Creepy horny college boys = not good potential boyfriends. :giggle

I have only met one online person, Jheri Rowe. She used to be on the CT here. It was so fun! I also have met a few ladies that were part of the Wedding Bells website after we had kids. It was also lots of fun. I personally find it a little unnerving but it's always so worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Yep....I have met up with some ladies from two of my "due date" and "birthday" clubs from Babyzone....July 2006 and September 2007. We had a BLAST!!!! We talk daily on FB. I have met lots of amazing friends.

I have met a bunch of scrapping friends too!!! So much fun! We get together about once a month to scrap and I have been to some bigger meet ups too!!

I have met several digi friends in real life! There are several digi scrappers that are here in El Paso and we try to get together about once a month or so. And I met up with the infamous Anne of Alamo last month and had a blast meeting her!

I met one online buddy when we realized that we had lived in the same stinkin' town for 3 years! We realized it exactly ONE MONTH before she moved on (military). We did get to meet up twice in that time and it was lovely meeting her and her kids.

I've met several digi scrapping online friends in real life -- Kellie/JoelsGirl is probably the one most people here would recognize. I've been digi scrapping for almost 10 years, so I've known some of these people for a long time.

My three best friends I met online. I met two of them when we were all on a message board for fans of a Branson (MO) show. The third one is the mom of one of the first two. It's a strange little story but I talk to them often and when we get together, we immediately fall right back into that comfortable relationship.

I have run into several of my blog readers while at Disney or in Branson (because I tend to blog about both). Always very cool for me, even if my kids roll their eyes.

I've been so very lucky with the people that I have met online and I've actually met a few of my digi-friends IRL which has been awesome as non of my IRL friends "get" my digi-craze at ALL!.

I was completely excited (swooning)when I got to meet the lovely Kaye Winiecki when she was up this way and I can tell you she is just as lovely and kind in person as she is here!

I got to spend the day with Cheryl aka Cherpea when she was over from New Zealand and we had a blast ... in fact we were saying that it wasn't at all like a normal first meeting at all, we felt like we knew each other already and were already friends ... very cool!

I regularly meet up for coffee with one of my digi-friends from my time at Pickleberrypop, Julie aka Motherbear.

I also have a digi-bestie over in the US who I talk to nearly every day that I plan on meeting when I come over your way for a holiday one day ..... that day can't come soon enough. I might have to come and track sown some of the Pad gang too if I ever get to the US :D

probably about 10 years ago i went to a cku and met scrappers IRL ... that was back when i was a paper scrapper. when i moved west to east coast, i joined a local mommy's group online (well 2 of them) and we would meet up and get together all the time.

Yes! I've met quite a few of my digi friends IRL. The coolest part is that the friendships made a seamless transition from online to in person. Meeting in person just cemented those friendships even more. On the whole, I hardly distinguish between my digi friends and my IRL friends any more. They are equally important. :)

Love meeting my online friends! I have been lucky to meet a bunch of them at meetups or conventions or through travel - lots of people come to visit NYC. I have a few friends I've met through digiscrapping who I see all the time now. And I'm traveling with one of them this summer to VidCon in California where we'll probably meet some more!

I married one. lol We didn't meet through a dating site or anything like that (though I had had decent dates through them before and have nothing against them) and we were definitely 'online friends' first.

I've met loads of people online before in person, but usually through location-based sites, where it's not really weird or unexpected to meet in person later. DH and I lived on different continents. ;) I've met a handful of other people that weren't through location-based or dating sites, and I don't have any horror stories or anything, but no life-changing experiences besides this guy here.

This, exactly.

I have indeed met a few online friends IRL and I'm so happy to say it's been a wonderful experience each time. No creepy old fat guys masquerading as scrappers. Just beautiful and brilliant, fun people. :beat

^^ this!! The first one we met for the first time and within 24 hrs she was spending the night in my home, road-tripping together for 4 hours in the car, then sharing a bed in a hotel [too much?].. It was great fun, and so nice to know that online friendships can be genuine IRL, too!

I have met only a few ..
and all of them have been really beyond amazing experinces.. I keep in touch with all of them
