So are you the super creative mom/wife/girlfriend/friend who makes your own Valentines?

Full disclosure. I really do not like this holiday! Except for the fact that my only daughter was born on it. Yep, she will forever share her birthday with millions of love crazed women trying to get their lust crazed men to show them the adoration they feel they deserve :giggle

That said, I do have enough kids to know that regardless of my feelings, it's an excuse to party at school. And sadly, I am the mom who runs out the day before and picks up whatever box is left for my kids school friends. *sigh*

BUT, this year I saw this! And I just HAVE to do it.

What cute and creative ideas to you all have for Valentine's Day? It's only 5 days away!

We will be making juice box robots. We will also be putting valentine stickers on mini-playdoh, too.

Kids over here don't really go crazy for valentines! But Ty does want to get a card for his best friend that is a girl, he will not allow the word girlfriend just a girl friend ...... Also he kinda had a crush on a young lady that works in our nearest supermarket! So she will be getting a card from her 7 year old admirer! BLESS!!!

Me and Tim don't really "Do" valentines say anymore after being together almost 17 years and going through all that we have, we don't need that one day to know or tell each other how much we love each other! The cards and presents stopped a few years ago through mutual agreement, more my idea than his! I'm happy to have a nice home cooked meal and a bottle of wine seeing as it's a Friday this year!

I do love all the creative things I see form across the pond! I might make Ty a special valentines lunch box for school this year xx

YES!! I am that crazy mom. I love Valentine's Day! =) I did my DD's card like a little mini scrap page. My DS's I took a photo of him holding his light saber with it "deactivated" (aka folded up) and then I bought glow stick and I will cut a slit in the card and slip in the glow stick as the light saber.

I just get 4x6 photos printed at Costco so it is in theory really not an expensive project or that much more than drugstore valentine's. Except of course that I end up buying props for a photo shoot. Like $40 worth of giant flowers at Michael's, plus a $30 font. :giggle

But all that stuff is reusable, and the card I made for my DD was made from BYOC stuff that I also already purchased.

I am the mom that is over Valentine's Day haha. I guess I've been doing it toooooo long. This will be year 22 (I think) of doing Valentine's cards for school or day care or whatever with my children, and still a few to go. I'm sure I will miss doing it at some point, but right now I cringe when it comes close haha.

DS is a Minecraft freak and I found these online. We've got the candy bars wrapped...now just the task of making him sit and write his name 20-something times.

Those are adorable, Jan. And I hear you re: the writing name part... I may just print my son's name on the card and be done with it, hehe.

I'm thinking about doing pop rocks stuck to a card with "you rock valentine" printed on it. Saw it on pinterest, really cute, and sorry I'm too lazy to link it up right now. ;)

Love the minion. So cute! We went non candy because... well just because. :)

Super cute ideas here.

I can't wait to see the mini scrap page Valentines Molly. We were going to do the light saber cards last year but I couldn't figure out how to keep the glow sticks from getting cracked and glowing before getting them passed out to DS classmates. Jan, the Minecraft ones are cute. Really like the juice box robots Ama! Ashley the pop rock idea is too cute.

Isabelle has been working steadily at making fishtail style rainbow loom bracelets for all of her classmates. The cards will read... Valentine's day would KNOT be the same without you. Joshua's valentines are little pop up monster toys... I haven't quite decided on wording for his card. Something like you are Rawr-some. Or I've got my "EYES" on you. I have some things pinned on Pinterest.
As for signing the cards. It is "suggested" in writing from the school, that we have our children handwrite the to and from info, otherwise I would print it.

Wow! You guys go all out. What ever happened to those box of cards we used to give out as kids? The only person getting a Valentine from me is my baby niece. She's getting pjs and two books.

We are NOT ALLOWED to use candy or any food. We are doing just plain card and if I can find some erasers or pencils I might add that too.

*gasp* My boys would love those minecraft ones! Thanks for the link Jan - sadly the site isn't loading for me, hopefully I can get them before V-day! I have mixed feelings - I love all the fun, clever ideas out there, but it is usually just one more thing to do that ends up stressing me out lol. It seems like it's gotten a lot more complicated. When I was a kid we just did store bought cards with a few conversation hearts in the envelope.

I haven't packaged mine up yet, but here is the treat topper I made for the top of my baggies that have homemade playdoh and a candy treat in it.

Katelyn brings home a squashed bag of Valentines every year, eats all the candy and immediately loses the rest. SO I do not put a lot of effort into Valentines, they're too little to appreciate it, LOL! I bought Monster High ones that come with pencils for the girls and WWE ones for the boys. Katelyn is in love with John Cena and I'm pretty sure she was more excited about the John Cena poster that came in the boy box than she will be about anything that comes home from her party!

My daughter loves to do a photo valentine each year. But this year, her first year in middle school, she was told that they didn't do a Valentine exchange. Then... Tuesday (as in two days ago), she came home and told me that she had something to tell me that was both good news and bad news. They would be having a Valentine party and card exchange on Thursday. This was at 4:00pm and fading light. She wanted something dance related... specifically in her pointe shoes wearing a tutu. We do not own a tutu and our floor is too slick for her to safely wear her point shoes. So, we had to brainstorm a bit and came up with this...

Added some digi embellishments and sent it to Walgreens to print and picked them up yesterday. Whew! Not what we had in mind originally... but they work and most importantly, they're DONE! :-)

That is an awesome photo, Tracie! And wonderful Valentine. You rock, mama :)

ooh, such great ideas lol.

And Traci, that's a fantastic photo/card!

I found some free printable minecraft cards for my sons class (his last year doing cards I think) and for my daughter we got the little stampinup monster crafts and put a sucker and heart eraser in each :) Neglected to take pictures lol. oh well ;)

Awesome ideas....I took the easy way out this year but I did manage to make an adorable V-day box for Seth!!!!
