So, what's on your baking list this year. If you want or can please share your recipes.

it's not at all 'baking', but we MUST make our hamburger cookies... remember these little bites of yummy?

other than that, whatever strikes me as sounding good at the time. i tend to bake on a whim rather than by design. usually, if i have something i need to use up (ie bananas in banana bread) i'll do that. otherwise, whatever sound good.

My daughter and I are both gluten free, so we have to heavily modify most of our old traditional Christmas recipes. We will still bake though!
Usually we do:
- cut out cookies with lots of sprinkles and decorations
- gingerbread men and houses
- no bakes
- peanut butter blossoms
- schnecken (german sticky buns...though I leave off the nuts)

I did a lot of baking on Black Friday because my mom has a convection oven and I love the way a conveciton oven bakes cookies. I made:

Oatmeal Scotchies
Soft Baked Chip Cookies -- I made these in 3 versions (all 3 double batches). One batch dark chocolate chunk and crushed pretzels, one batch regular chocolate chips and pecans and one batch M&M baking bits.

Also on our list to get done before Christmas:

M&M Dream Bars
Seven Layer Bars

My daughter wants to make several batches of the bar cookies to give her friends because she has "so many" and doesn't want to leave anyone out. Ah, to be young and popular.

I might make my apricot oatmeal cookies and chocolate chips. I need to find the recipe for the oatmeal cookies - but it's pretty much the same as any basic cookie but you use chopped up dried apricots, chopped almonds and some almond extract. Then I drizzle some sugar glaze on top. I get in trouble if I don't make them!

I remember these, they are super adorable.

Laura, could you share some recipes? Heather is almost sure I am intolerant to gluten too, but I refuse to NOT eat my cookies. LOL!!!

I LOVE APRICOTS!

I'm hoping to try a few things this year as I'm doing the lowcarb/no sugar thing. One of my favorite Christmas Treats is the peanut butter bon-bons and I think I have found a way to make them so I can eat them. I'll post the recipe once I try it and if it actually turns out. Another treat I might try is making a spice cake. I have a decent recipe for a lowcarb vanilla cake so I hope to modify that.

I might make a few of these cookies, too - they are delicious!

I think I've done too much baking the last few months that I don't feel like baking at all now...no motivation. I used to make baguettes for my family almost everyday since my mom can't eat store-bought breads. But making breads take too long, it's tiring. Then other days I'd make butter cookies or chocolate chip cookies. Some days I'd make cakes.

I really wish the motivation will come back. Hopefully. Especially with my mom's birthday coming up on Christmas day. So even though we don't celebrate Christmas, we still celebrate something on the 25th.

Jen - pls share your cake recipe after you try it out. I'm always looking for low carb/gluten free desserts. I used to make Martha Stewart Kitchen Sink cookies every year but since going GF and low carb I haven't made these for a few yrs. I need to find a few savory and sweet treats this year to try out.

I do soft ginger cookies every year. My husband loves chow mein cookies, too.

Not low sugar, but gluten-free:)

English Toffee!

I found some mint chocolate chips at Target tonight. I think I'm going to use those in my usual chocolate chip cookies this year. :)

so far this season I have only made 3 dozen birthday cupcakes :D ... no seasonal baking just yet. Normally its too hot to crank up the oven but so far this December its been pretty mild!
