I'm FINALLY having a family photo shoot in two weeks but I really don't know how to clothe everyone... HELP! Any suggestions?

Oh, and it supposed to be outdoors...

Those are really good...I think it was on Andrea Burns' blog a while back that I read to pick one pattern that you really like for one person and then pull your colors from that piece

It kind of depends on the feel you want. If you want it more traditional, then I like it when everyone is wearing jeans or khakis, and then they all have different shirts on. Not matchy, but in the same tonal value is always good. Like all dark navy, maroon, black, gray, hunter green, etc. Or do all summery colors in brighter tones. Patterns usually aren't the greatest either - I prefer solid colors for families. Or you can go more urban or eclectic and all wear totally different stuff so that it just looks like you are going about your regular day. I like that look too depending on the setting you are taking the pics in. When I did ours last October, we all wore jeans - some were dark, some regular, and then we all had dark tops on. I think they turned out cute. We were just going for a casual look (that was kind of decided by Chris who wanted to wear his hawkeye sweatshirt, lol).

Jeans, with yellow and grey tops. One yellow and white striped, one solid grey polo, etc. Fun!

Megan Turnidge is amazing at this kind of stuff. I know she doesn't hang out here, but if you sent her a message through her blog, I'm sure she'd have some recommendations for you.

I'll share a couple of the ones we've done, though I'm no expert LOL. Sorry they are so huge!
Here is my favorite, shortly after my youngest was born, pulling all slight variations of the teal color in our shirts:

and here is one we did with grandparents, where we all wore a different color shirt:

and this is our most recent one, sorry this is unedited, haven't had much chance to play yet! with varying colors and patterns of red:

We almost always wear jeans with whatever tops we decide to wear. Have fun picking, I love family photo day!!

This is what I came up with:

My youngest will wear these shorts which was my color inspiration:

with this t-shirt (not crazy about the writing on it...)

My oldest will be wearing this shirt (sleeves rolled down more) with the same orange t-shirt under and blue shorts:

My hubby will be wearing a blue polo shirt with the cargo pants in the same shade of khaki. I will be wearing blue jeans with a top that I haven't found yet... of course I'm the hardest one to clothe. :(

That sounds super cute Ren <3 who's doing your pictures? I'd like to get some done soon!

Renee~ try and find you a cute orange scarf. .. and go clean white shirt. And, if you can find a solid top for your son wearing the plaid shorts, even better. i love your color scheme!
