So today pretty much sucked.

Wow, all's well that ends well, huh? Will the little girl also have a consequence for her part? I hope so, otherwise it doesn't feel equitable.
 
((hugs)) karah. yp, sometimes being a mom is really really hard. but at least you can now do something about the bullying thing.

THIS. I always hated how when I was bullied in school, *I* was the one who got punished for responding, but the bullies didn't have anything happen to them.
 
The thing that's really sad is these are all 7 and 8 year olds. They're so little still (my son is 8, the girls are 7).

So right now Ryan is out in the van cleaning all of the seats and surfaces. First item on his to-do list for the day. "Mom, this is really fun!" Hmmm. Does that mean I should have him do this every week? LOL
 
Oh that really sucks Karah. What a tough position to be in! But you know what? You took a bad situation and turned it into a positive learning experience for your son. IMHO, that's what being a great mom is all about.

I totally applaud your son for standing up for his cousin. Bullying sickens me. Even when I was kid I couldn't imagine purposely trying to hurt someone or saying things to make them feel bad about themselves. I just don't get it. Why would you choose to hurt someone?? My son is 11 and he's had problems with other kids since like 1st grade. It's so sad.

Sounds like you had a good plan for today and that some good dialogue came out of everything. Still, one of those challenges we wish we wouldn't have to confront, huh? Good job momma for approaching it fairly and well roundedly. Very few things in life are, after all, black and white. :beat
 
Karah, you got such great advice here! This is such a tough situation but it sounds like your little guy had his heart in the right place. I bet he is an awesome kid. I hope the day went well!
 
Good on him for sticking up for his cousin, although it is a shame (though understandable!) that he kinda lost his cool a little.
Hope everything went ok and that the bullying comes to an end
