Are you prime?

We've had Prime for a long time now. When John started his working out and fitness craze (I say this like it's a recent thing. lol He's been like this since shortly after Bella was born!) he got the Prime account because of the free shipping, which since he gets like 3 different types of drink mixes a month, gets used a LOT.
I've used the lending library a few times, but not too many, I honestly keep forgetting about it. The boys have watched their streaming stuff on my Kindle though. They have some older kid tv shows that Netflix doesn't.

Downside, my Kindle says "John's Kindle" since we had to hook it to his account for the Prime membership.

I am! I am a total prime-lover. For a while I had the free amazon mom and amazon student memberships so I didn't get the videos, but those ran out and I had to go to paid. Honestly I haven't looked at the videos yet because I barely have time for tv at all these days, but I'm sure once things settle down with the house, I'll be checking it out. I use prime all the time though, like on a weekly basis, lol.

no. i buy enough to always qualify for free shipping! haha. have to look into the tv side of it though...

I'm so glad this thread is here... I am on a trial of prime... and I have to decide to keep it. I just finished watching Season 1 of Downton Abby but the Season 2 is purchase only. My only worry is paying for a full year. I don't order a lot from Amazon but the shipping is great when I do.

What is the student discount? Is it for college age too?

ok now i am a Prime member. lol. with the addition of science etc... put me over the edge ;)

Wait wait now. Educate an ignoramus. We have been prime for several years now (and LOVE it. Totally worth it...just for holiday shopping/shipping savings alone) but what is this about instant video? I have been woefully unaware of said awesomeness.

We love love Prime. I can't imagine not having it. It's like when you think back to the days before you had a cell phone and you wonder how did you do without?! lol! In all seriousness though we have lived in places that don't have a ton in the way of local good shopping and so Amazon prime has been an amazing investment for us. So I'm a fan of anything that would amp up the love. ♥

Ummm...so I usually qualify for free shipping with most of my Amazon purchases, but I do shop there A LOT! We don't have much in the way of shopping around here. Is it free shipping on EVERY purchase? Even the ones that are from 3rd party merchants? If so, I'm going to sign up right now! And I am intrigued by the video streaming, even though I might watch a total of 30 minutes of TV a week. Maybe I'd watch more. And I love the idea of being able to use the lending library!

I have prime and LOVE it! We love the quick delivery, the videos, and also the ability to "borrow" some kindle books!

The free shipping is 2 day free shipping on everything that has the prime symbol - meaning that it comes from amazon not a private seller. Everything I have purchased there in the last year has been prime eligible. You also then have the ability upgrade to overnight shipping for $3.99 also if you want to, which is an awesome deal for a last minute emergency.

no, i'm not a prime member yet, although i've considered it several times. maybe i'll look into doing a trial of it and see. ??

I love it for the little things.

The toothpaste we've used for 30 years...we can't find in the stores. I ordered it from Amazon, had it in two days and free shipping.

I was just visiting my dad, his coffee pot broke and he bought a new machine becuase the local Target (30 minutes away) didn't have a replacement carafe. They normally sell it for $12 or so there. I wen on Amazon, ordered him 2 of them, no shipping, no tax, total price $17.56 and it arrived at his door in two days. He was SO excited!!

You name it...we've found it on Amazon. Obviously, not everything qualifies for prime, but enough does that it makes it worth it.

I let my niece stream videos too on my iPad while I was there. (I bought an app that lets me use Flash Player).

Prime video streaming = lots of free tv shows (Downton Abbey Season 1, for instance) and some movies streamed for free to your computer or tv. If you have Amazon Prime, you have access to this.

We were when we lived in the middle of nowhere. Now that we're in civilization again, we don't order from Amazon (or any website really) as often. The only thing I order from there are books for my Kindle app on my iPad.

Am I only the one who sees this topic and thinks of Transformers?

:lol Nope, that's what I thought too!!

You guys have it SO much better over in the States, Prime here gives you free next day delivery. And that's it - ni Kindle lending, no video streaming, no perks at all. For £49 ($77 ish).
