I am wanting to paint our kitchen really bad! I want a color something like a dark mustard but DH wants white walls throughout the hOuse which no one does anymore.

So, what color are the walls in your kitchen? I need help trying to convince the ol' man that white just won't do anymore.

My cabinets are white and my counter top a navy colour. Right now my walls are white and I'm thinking about staying with that but Glenn wants to change it up. I am going to do my livingroom in a cranberry and forest green with white trim.

Sorry, I'm not much help.. but I'd say Cranberry... lol!! I love that colour:) Chocolate brown sounds good too, Angie!

Our living room is an olive colour that I love. I kinda wish now we'd done the kitchen using it instead.

I like brown but I have what my husband refers to as "exPensive paneling" so I have brown. Have you ever heard of Expensive Paneling? I told him that's like an oxy-moron! LOL

I like the Olive color though.

ummm my kitchen is purple...i totally didn't choose the color and if we decided to paint (rented apt so who knows) it'll be the second room we paint (first would be our peptol bismol pink office..lol). I do love the idea of a mustard or red for the kitchen.

Olive is another colour I have begun to love!
Expensive panelling, perhaps a photo will help, Mel:)

mines boring magnolia but were due for the kitchen to be refitted this year or next (were in rented to) so will give it a new look then

A gorgeous terra cota that I love, surrounded by paper bag brown and chocolate brown in the living and dining rooms

The whole main floor of our house is a mustard-y yellow. I love it. It's such a cheery color.

Our kitchen is a beige, with a red-y orange feature wall (love it too).

Girls rooms are pink and green, the boys room is freshly painted a darker beige and a dark blue color.

Our furniture has all been changed, but these show the wall colors. The kitchen is darker/richer than the photo (it looks more orange in the photo) and the chocolate brown is darker IRL, but close enough.

Sigh. I wish. Our landlord won't let us paint. At our old apartment, we had the kitchen painted reddish-brown and the living room a kinda goldy-mustard. Made it feel so homey.

When we get a house, you better believe DH will be on Paint Patrol (he insists he does it better & I happily agree! *lol*) and EVERY room will be painted.

Yea, right! I'm way too embarrassed to show anyone my walls but I'll show you a glimpse of DH's example of Expensive Paneling!

Yeah...that's right....it's just paneling! Period!

Thanks Mel. The colors in the dining room are the same in the living room, but the photo of the dining room is more accurate. I absolutely love the colors - it's the first time I've had my whole house painted something other than white. John was totally against color before we moved here, but I talked him into it, and he actcually admits it looks so much nicer with color!

I want to do a room in a warm gold/mustard color but I NEVER have good luck picking anything from the yellow family so I'm all paranoid. Every room I've ever painted yellow I've ended up rage repainting.

I know what you mean, Julie! DH was totally against covering the Sun Deck but with the hot temperatures here in the summer, we weren't using the deck. About 3 years ago, I convinced him to cover it and now we spend alot of time out on the deck, now even when its pouring down rain! So, I'm pretty confident that I can get him to come around with a little color in his life! LOL

We went to the Parade of Homes, which is a new home tour the builders around here do every year. We went into one house, and I showed John the two browns I wanted, and since he was able to visualize it, it helped a lot. That was the turning point for him.
