Pad Patter 11/29: What's your love story?

Totally fun random question today - how did you meet your DH or SO?

I met my husband at work when I was interning during college. I like to say that was before Monica Lewinsky gave interns a bad name. :giggle His secretary introduced us and we went out to lunch. We both knew within the month that this was "it"!!! :heartslub

We met online playing EverQuest. I'd like to say that's not as terrible as it sounds, but I'm not sure it would matter. LOL. We weren't romantic online or anything, we just chatted from time to time and found out we lived a mile apart. He started pestering me into having lunch, so I said ok, even though I was pretty sure he was going to cut me up and hide the pieces in his mother's basement. I just kept making excuses when he'd try to nail down the actual day. Finally I relented. Went to lunch. Still thought he was weird.

Then my grandmother died and he offered to come help with the house. I didn't think he'd actually show up, but he did. And he helped us all weekend every weekend for MONTHS. So of course I had to keep him. ;)

We've been married almost 8 years. And honestly, he is still a bit weird.

We met online too. Chatted and talked on the phone. Met in person at a public place. After that we were pretty much inseparable. It was mid December so we ended up going to Holiday parties together and met eachother's family pretty soon. We were engaged by March and married in May. Been married 12 years.

Brian proposed three weeks after I met him. He said he knew by the time we got the appetizers on our first date that I was the girl for him :)

Cue Heart Melt!!

I met my dh in high school we were in French Class together, we've been together ever since (12 years now)

I met mine when our churches merged together in high school (I was 14, he was 16). He couldn't stand me at first. LOL! I think we'd known each other for just over a year (and me being madly in love with him that whole time) before his feelings started to change. We sort of "dated" for a while, broke up for a while, dated for a while, I left for a year to do an internship, and within 3 months of me coming home he proposed! We've been married for just over 13 years now (known each other for 17.5).

I was searching for something on the internet and came across my hubby's website. I needed more info so sent him an email. We started exchanging emails, then started talking on the phone and finally met in person. He decided before even meeting me in person that i was his "girl". Soon after we met in person, he proposed. We've been married for 14 years.

I love this thread! It's so fun!

I met my hubby when I interviewed him at work. The funny thing is that I was dating someone else at the time and that guy turned out to be a HUGE loser/stalker and my DH totally helped me through that. We were friends for awhile after that and hung out a lot. He was interested in me, but I was way gun shy for awhile after the bad relationship. Thank God he was patient! We've been married almost 10 years now!

We met through mutual friends our freshman year of high school at a basket ball game. We started dating our sophomore year after he told one of my good friends (and his ex) that he thought I was cute. Unfortunately, that just meant he liked me, and in his words, he wanted to ask me to be his girlfriend when I wasn't expecting it. After waiting around a few weeks - and him not asking - me and a guy friend (who wanted to make an ex jealous) decided to "date." Sure enough not even a week later John was finally pushed into action. :lol
It wasn't until I got pregnant with Ryan that we even considered getting married. (Well, not that we could when I was pregnant with Zach and we were 16/17) His proposal was something along the lines of "You know, we got a pretty nice sized family going, maybe we should make it official." Even so we waited until Ryan was like 3 months old before getting married.

We've been together almost 9 years, and married for almost 6.

awww - such cute stories :)

i met my DH in Paris at a bar (o'brien's in the 7th arrondissement :) LOL!) - i was walking by the bar with some friends from the US who were visiting me - and one of them saw one of charlie's friends through the window and thought he was cute. we went in and asked the guy to take our picture, which led to talking, etc. the friend called charlie and asked him to come to the bar too b/c charlie is bilingual and could help out w/ four american girls - haha. we hit it off fairly quickly and spent the entire night talking (and making out LOL) ... my friends and i ended up going out with charlie and his friends the next three nights in a row - and that was that! we dated for four years (living apart for 1 1/2 (me in paris and charlie in NYC) and then living together in NYC for two) before getting engaged (in paris on new years eve) and then married two weeks later.

We met at a poker game. I was with a guy I was dating, and while I was there I realized he was the son of a lady I was renting a room from! He was winning that night and I was flirting...

We celebrate 30 years in February!

Great topic Laura! I picked up my hubby in a nightclub. lol
Well not really but we first met in a nightclub through a mutual friend. He asked my friend to join a basketball team he was putting together. I went to watch them play for a few weeks and we usually went out as a group afterwards. We dated for 3 years and have now been married 14 years in Jan.

This is so much more romantic than mine!!!

I love hearing all these how we met stories! My hubby and I met in prison! haha We were both correctional officers at the time. I had already been there for years before he started. It wasn't long after he started working there we became great friends and romantic after that.

Hahaha - you totally had me there for a minute Becca...thought we had an ex-con on our hands here! :)

I met my husband of almost 11 years at a college party. Neither of us went to college - LOL! I was in beauty school, and had gone to a party with some friends. I met Kyle that night and was ENAMORED! I had a highschool boyfriend still, and didn't think anything would come of anything with Kyle because he was way too hot and way too good for me. I even burnt him in the eye with my cigarette (yeah I smoked a little back then - ugh). He did propose to me that night though (not for real real, but it was cute!) We became really good friends and hung out quite a bit after that, even though I still hung on to the highschool boyfriend. Just when Kyle was about to give up on me and he told his family that he was not going to call me anymore, I finally broke it off with boyfriend and took Kyle to my sister's wedding - which is where I told myself "I am going to marry this guy". He was so great with all my little cousins and the kids there - melt my heart! The fun thing is - his dad was in my parents wedding! Our families had known eachother all along, but he and I had never met!

How fun are these stories?! All so different and all so full of life!!!

I met my honey at Muscular Dystrophy Camp. He went there to help out. I have MD. We'd see each other at parties and outings. He finally asked me out and proposed on our 1st date. I said yes. That was 32 yrs ago. : )

We met a month after graduating from college - at work. We both started an intense eight week training program at a large consulting company together. There were 25 people in our training program, all new college grads and all from different offices from Atlanta to San Francisco. We were two of three people from Chicago. The funny thing is another couple in our same program also got married - they were from New York and Minneapolis.

He proposed after two years of dating and we were married 14 months after that. We've been married for over 11 years now.

I met my hubby online in 2003.... and we married on Valentine's Day in 2005:) I moved across Canada with my two boys 5 and 2 to be with him... everyone said it wouldn't last..... and here we are still together:)
