Corn

we love corn on cob, and it goes 10 for $1 here, and I buy a ton for dinners with friends.
Elote is a huge hit here! Street vendors sell it for way too much! a bowl of corn, with sauce (like mayo with cilantro and garlic) with cheese, chile powder and limes. It is delicious!
I cheat! Available at Trader Joes-we buy it fromAmazon, 3 bottles at a time! so so yummy
spread thin layer of mayo, and then sprinkle liberally!

This sounds like something I might have to try! Dang your corn in CHEAP! We can sometimes get good deals when it's available locally, but more like 3 for a dollar and that's getting more and more rare too.

although our state is last in education, highest in poverty
Our cost of living is very very low.
All utilities highest-$150 a month
Houses go for a quarter what is in other places in America.
The food in stores is pretty low cost - issue is we don’t always have it! Hahah
We joke if you see something usually not here, buy 2, cause it may never be restocked!!
I am grateful for Amazon! And living in middle of no where does have its perks! Corn at 10cents each is pretty good!

I love corn on the cob!! We have lots of vendors here (in Iowa). I don't buy it super often because it's annoying to cook lol. Last time I bought it, there were some slugs in them and it grossed me out! I know this is normal though - I'm just weird.

I like to slather in butter, salt, and pepper. When I was younger and went to the state fair all the time, they would dunk the ears of corn into a vat of melted butter. So good oh my gosh.

I love corn on the cob, but I hate eating it. I need to get one of those tools that scrapes the corn off the cob. I used to have a set of the Pampered Chef corn holders, but I'm not sure what happened to them. I like them with lots of butter and salt! There's a corn on the cob vendor that comes to our state fair and does all kinds of different types. They do a firecracker one that is rolled in hot cheetos.

I have corn holders, but I find them unnecessary. You are getting covered in butter no matter how you do it, so I just enjoy! The firecracker one sounds delish - I'll have to try that!
I love corn on the cob! I cook it in husk in the microwave and then the silk comes right off. Google it! I love to roll it in butter and then salt and pepper it. We also like to cut it off the cob. I got some corn holders at dollar tree several years ago and they worked great too.

Okay, I'm intrigued!! This sounds so much easier. My question is do you not wash it then? Or do you wash it after microwaving? I don't think I could do that because the stuff we get in Iowa often has slugs...

I normally chop the end off, then the husk and silk come off pretty easily. Not as easy as microwaving it in husk though.

No washing but I guess you could after microwaving. I usually pull back the husks a bit before buying to make sure I’m getting good cobs with no bugs.

Do you prefer corn on the cob or off the cob? On the cob! It's such a summer treat

How do you season your corn? With lots of butter, and a generous sprinkling of salt and pepper. I have never had elote, but I'm pretty sure I would love it (it sounds delicious!)

Do you have corn holders you like and would recommend? I do not have corn holders. I am sometimes tempted to buy some, but honestly, I already have too many kitchen gadgets and gizmos. I'm afraid corn holders -- small and seldom-used -- would get lost in the bottom of a kitchen drawer (like the turkey lacers that I only use once or twice a year!).
Corn holders will definitely get buried in my kitchen drawers lol

Do you prefer corn on the cob or off the cob? On the cob. We get it in the late summer months from the farm stand nearby. But we're lucky if we get 2 for $1 corn, not like @AnneofAlamo's 10 for $1!!

How do you season your corn? Lots of butter and a little salt.

Do you have corn holders you like and would recommend? We got our corn holders from the dollar store I think years and years ago. They are plastic and screw on and do a good job holding the cob.
