It's strawberry season here where I live, and there's nothing better than fresh-from-the-field berries for an early summer snack! I love making some shortcakes and whipping some cream to enjoy with those sweetly sour treasures. That was always a favorite when I was a kid, along with any kind of ice cream.

What was your absolute go-to snack on a hot summer afternoon when you were growing up? Do you still indulge? If you're down under, what's a tasty treat you're looking forward to this winter?

It's strawberry season here too and my kids told me I'm required to stock back up on some strawberry freezer jam. I think I'll be working on that this coming Saturday after a trip to the farmer's market. I bought a couple of pints this weekend to make a strawberry pie tonight. I can't wait!

When I was a kid, our go to hot afternoon treat was popsicles. Funny enough, I have a box of those in the freezer right now because my hubby wanted them for his colonoscopy prep yesterday. Lol.

My go to snack was something that made me completely and utterly uselessly fat! 2 to 3 scoops of chocolate ice cream, quarter cup of shredded sweetened coconut, two chocolate covered graham cookies crumbled up and a quarter cup of peanut butter all stirred together to make my own homemade Dairy Queen blizzard in a bowl. I’m still dealing with the after effects of this treat.

We know what he was doing all night! Hope that exam goes well! (Now I want a popsicle! I might have to get some to store in the freezer at work!)

That sounds delicious, but yeah...I've had my fill of treats, I'm pretty sure. When I was in high school, I had some friends that worked at an ice cream shop. My favorite thing to have them make was peppermint ice cream covered in hot fudge and marshmallow sauce. Decadent!

I love strawberries too, but they are expensive here, so a rare treat. A small basket, maybe 15 (?) strawberries, usually costs 8 or 9 dollars.
Trying to not snack as much this summer, but I love chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!!

Strawberry season here has come and passed; we get to do our U-pick adventures in January/February. It starts again in November so I may try to get some fresh berries to make jam to send back to France with my bestie when she's here around Thanksgiving.

In my summer camp days (both as a camper and when I got to run the Earth Adventures room), my guilty pleasure was cans of Brisk iced tea. Haven't had that in forever.

I do love fresh corn when it's in season. I need to find the recipe I have to make it in the Instant Pot and start getting some again this summer. I miss when ears of corn were $0.25 (when I was in college) at Publix and I would buy "weirdo in a math problem" amounts every week.

I love strawberries, we do get them year round here, but they get too expensive at times. Starting to see watermelon coming in, which I also love those mini ones (not as much for a single person to deal with).

As a kid, I guess if I remember a special summer treat, it would have been popsicles or push-ups - the orange cream kind.

Don't remember what snacks I had during my childhood, that was too many years ago!

These days instead of chocolate I snack on Skittles or Utz cheese balls or mini Club Crakers. As for strawberries... love 'em! I will sometime have a bowl of strawberries with sugar on them for dinner. If I'm somewhere that has relish platters that have strawberries on them, I go for the strawberries. My favorite pie is strawberry but I prefer someone else make them. Me and the kitchen have a love/hate relationship.

I loved the way my dad made fresh corn...off the cob, sauteed in butter and pepper! I might have to do that this summer.

We're not all meant to be culinary experts! I could probably make the pie, but I wouldn't enjoy doing it! LOL

When we were little, my dad would make homemade peach ice cream every summer. I'm not typically a fan of peach things, but man, that ice cream was so good! Especially when we lived in GA and had those fresh GA peaches!

It's citrus time here in the upside down and I'm LOVING all the delicious mandarins that are in the fruit and veg shops!
mmmmmm citrus! :drool

Oh, yummy! Also not a fan of peach things, but I would definitely have homemade fresh peach ice cream if offered!

Oh man, when you're thirsty and want something cold and you get a little mandarin...oooh, that hits the spot!

I do like strawberries, and I've got some growing in my garden this year (just a container of them) along with lots of blackberries, raspberries, and mulberries!! I don't really snack on them, but I do like to make smoothies or smoothie bowls when I have them. I'm going to try to make some sorbet this summer too.

My go-to snack was probably tacos and burritos from this place called Taco Tico! At home, it was and still is tortilla chips and salsa/guac or ramen noodles. I'm not an ice cream or cake fan, and I just don't remember having a lot of dessert type things growing up (not that I was deprived, I think I just didn't care for them as much).
