For those of you curious about shooting RAW....

DH has been telling me for years I should be... and I've ignored him :) Great article, thanks!

I tend to harp on this but really...he's right you should :) It makes all the difference in the world (imo) totally worth the extra space it takes up!

And that was kind of my thing about it, the huge file sizes. One of my Christmas gifts this year was a massive external HD (to help nudge me out of my non-RAW stance) and so far I'm mainly using it to store scrapping goodies :lol

But after reading that article I think I'll give it a go..

What I do is this..I download the RAW files open in bridge delete the bad ones and make my edits and convert to jpegs all the ones I want to keep then I delete the original RAW files over my HD :) Easey peasey!

I decided to start shooting in a RAW but when I went to transfer the photos onto my computer I discovered that my iPhoto wouldn't download the raw files and I couldn't get my PSE to open them so that I could convert them into jpegs. I ended up having to download a software from the Nikon website but it was a pain. I'm sure there is a way I can figure it all out but I just haven't put the effort into it yet, lol!

I want to shoot raw and did for a while, but I use PSE, so I had to DL the patch and it was just a pain to convert and save each one. If there was a faster, easier way, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Great article. TFS!

Doesn't ACR come with PSE? I could have sworn it did..if it does you just have to change your photo uploader to ACR/Bridge as default and it will automatically open from there instead of iphoto (or whatever program you currently use).

Hmmm...I don't know. I was pretty sure that I had to download it. It's been a while though. I just couldn't figure out how to save them in batches. I had to do it one.at.a.time. And it took forever! :(

So technically...I could import all my RAW files to Lightroom to do my RAW processing and then export to PS ( I can't live without curves and I made actions for all of my processing so Lightroom only just isn't an option for me) and convert to jpg there? I had the old version of Lightroom on my old laptop but haven't gotten the Mac version yet.

You know you can use curves (and save it as a preset) in LR as well? :)

I have LR 3:

OK you've convinced me to give it another try. I don't like all the room it takes on my computer but editing and converting back to jpg right away sounds like a smart idea.
