Today is Advent Sunday, and that reminded me of something I was going to do before the white rabbit got me...
I had planned to buy all my grandkids Christmas Advent calendars this year. I was going to give them to them on Thanksgivng so that they would have them before December started. There are so many fun and unique ones these days!! I guess I will start planning for next year. Maybe I can get them on sale after the holiday haha One year, I gave my friend a Harry Potter one and it was so cute!

Do you do an advent calendar?
Any special kind?

I used to get the Lego advent calendars for the kids- but they're too old for those now. I did find a fun beauty one for my daughter, but I never did find anything (besides the cute little chocolate advent) for my son. He's at the weird teenage age where he's not into toys, but not much else either (besides hockey!) ;) I'll keep my eye on this thread for something for him next year too!

We also used to do Lego, but moved on to Pokemon last year and this year. I also have two 2 handmade ones that I fill with chocolate, jokes, personalized coupons, books, and treats!

It's fun, having a little something to look forward to each day!

I think I bought my kids the cardboard ones with little chocolates inside once, but it didn't make much of an impression, so I didn't do that again. We do have a felt Christmas tree that hangs on the wall by the door we go in and out of, and it has the cutest little felt decorations (with velcro) that you add each day. There is a little felt pouch made to look like a present that hangs under the tree that holds all the decorations and my boys still like to do take turns adding one each day. We'll have to remember to do it until they get back from college on the 12th. :agree

I bought a customized felt Winnie the Pooh themed advent calendar once, through a catalog (a long time ago) and it came without the Day 2 embroidered on the pocket. Each pocket had an element to hang on the tree. We still used it. Found a photo of it!

My favorite recent advent calendar was one I got for me and my roommate when it was just the two of us. It was a charm bracelet, and each day was a different Christmas charm. That was fun!

I think we have the same thing. ❤️ My sister made it for us back in the 1970s. I gave the calendar to my daughter several years ago to share with the grandkids.

This year with my grand-daughters I put together a basket of books, each wrapped individually and numbered. I got them at thrift stores, so 1-2$ each. They share the book and the moment with mom as she reads it to them.

I bought a Lego Minecraft Advent calendar for my youngest. My eldest doesn't want an Advent calendar.
I bought myself and hubby a little calendar with chocolates.
Last year, I made stickers with the characters from the game Brawlstars. I made Minecraft stickers too an other year. And an other year, I made a calendar with Pokemon cards.

When my girls were younger, we had a cloth advent calendar with pockets that my mom and I used to buy little things for each year, books, dollar store items, etc.
The last couple of years I've picked up a calendar with little books in each day for my granddaughter. This year its a Lego calendar which I hope she enjoys.

I used to buy the shop bought cardboard ones with chocolates but Keaton struggles with the concept of clearly seeing how many days until Christmas with all of the numbers in a random order so this year I bought a fabric one that hangs on the door with pockets and have bought little things for each day, I have a collection of mini LOL Dolls for Mackenzie and a collection of mini Thomas and Friends Trains for Keaton and have individually wrapped them with chocolates for each day of advent.

My parents bought all the grandkids a Lego one this year.

We’re trying the Merry Murdle this year too but it’s hard!

We also have a religious advent.

I do a chocolate one for my kids each year and then something unique to them -- like this year my daughter is learning to play the guitar so I got one that's a different guitar pick every day. Another year I made one full of Disney trading pins for an upcoming trip and one year it was slimes, etc etc. (The toys/goodies one was supposed to take the place of the chocolates since they get candy in their stockings anway but I guess old habits die hard!)
