Well I have finally recovered from jet lag and thought I’d take a moment and enjoy the gift that I bought my kids….

Shark POWERDETECT Corded Stick Vacuum, DuoClean & Odor Neutralizer Technology

You’d think they’d be happy about a new vacuum… man this thing is fantastic… suctions the dust right off my baseboards and shutters and practically hugs my hardwood floors.

Their future self will “thank” me….”maybe?” lol.

I am actually very envious (… also clearly old, but hey!)

Although, to be fair, I bought my youngest a vacuum when she moved out because she is "Miss Allergic" and her response was a genuine 'yay, I love vacuums'. Which is good as she has developed a lucrative sideline as a cleaner, although her work one is a much cooler "Ghostbusters' style backpack!

Is 3 & 5 too young for this gift? If I say it’s for them I can buy it right?!?
I’m all on board with training them
young….. lol.

I tried that with dishes…. One will wash the stainless steel off and the other, well she has been washing dishes now for 5 years and I guess we are still learning that skill.

We just got a cordless stick vacuum and I love it! It doesn't suck as well as the corded though so that is one drawback.

Having a great vacuum makes all the difference! We have cordless stick Dysons for each floor so we don't have to go up and down stairs with them (although they are really light to carry). The other great convenience is the swiffer wet/dry mop. So easy to quickly sweep up the main floor every day (or two, depends on how creativity is taking over LOL).

my son did have a toy vac he loved like 12-ish years ago but DH had to take the sound out -
looked like this

it was like epically loud popcorn making every damn time he'd start it out of the blue to help me! (Didn't really carry over as teens to useful vaccuuming)

i hope your shark continues to work for you; my electrolux stick vac, that i bought for me after buying myself a mother's day robot vac proved effectively useless against moulted feathers that are on the floor here all the time, was good for about the first 8-9mths and now i'm back to the 90's ducted into the wall goes to the massive collection thing in the garage corded loud and limiting but at least sucks stuff up vac.
So i get your joy at their new toy - have fun!

I almost went with a cordless… the dog brings in so much dust that I was worried it wouldn’t hard enough charge or have enough suction for me. We have hardwood up and downstairs with carpet only in a few rooms.

Oh I remember those vacuums for sure. Maybe I should get one for my great-nephew. Lol. His mother would cheerfully strangle me as my sister in law got him a mini drum set.

Ouch that sucks about the vac and the feathers. I know we had a robot vac before and I spent more time babysitting that thing.. it annoyed me. Our first stick vac lasted almost 6 years and my son broke it. So hence I upgraded to the newer one and gifted it to them. lol.

Lol on the vacuum being a gift to your kids! I'm actually jealous. We need a new vacuum so badly. I've never really loved our Dyson. The suction isn't great, then the hose got a hole in it and my hubby ordered a replacement off Amazon and it's so tight that you can't get the tube thing to go back into the hose after you extend it. The last time I used it, I got mad and put it away without making it go back in. Tantrums were had. :rofl

my DH is Team Ryobi and he kept telling me 'this wouldn't happen with a ryobi' when i'd complain the battery had died or the electrolux had overheated again ... my only real reservation is the bright neon green yellow thing that would have to live in the corner of our lounge room... not exactly in my zen japandi-scandi colour scheme! (and yes, apparently ryobi make indoor vac's - he already has a wet dry vac of theirs for the workshop and it is a beast of a thing)

Good to know! I only have one Ryobi tool and that is my brad nailer (which I LOVE). My hubby was all mad for me picking that one because all the rest of our battery powered tools are Dewalt and he thought that all the tools should be the same brand so they could share batteries. I agree with that mostly, but the brad nailer came highly recommended by a women's wood-worker that I follow and I figured she'd know best... and she was right! Lol. I also kinda love the bright neon green color for my brad nailer. It's no worse than the bright yellow Dyson. Lol.

it's a little different here, there's an extra red one from the main big chain hardware store but i saw something like this years ago, and it sounds so right - i have heard the interchangable battery argument from several men

:rofl That is SO true!

I love Shark!
I think my older two have finally joined in my appreciation for a good vacuum. The 19 year old, not so much lol
I think we got a bad shark. We bought one that was highly recommended on Prime day last year and it broke the second time we used it. We are not that dirty I swear. We bought another dyson after that again.
