Happy Pi Day my Lilypad peeps!

"Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and eat pie.
Pi has been calculated to over 50 trillion digits beyond its decimal point. As an irrational and transcendental number, it will continue infinitely without repetition or pattern." (thank you piday.org for that intro)

I didn't know about it when I was little, but I started celebrating it after I had kids.

Do you celebrate pi day? If so, how?
Yes! This year we're having pizza pie after school and chicken pot pie for dinner.

Are you a math lover or hater?
I've always loved math and graduated with a math degree.

What's your favorite pie? Pizza pie? Pot pie? Fruit pie? Other?
Probably fruit pie but I love them all!

I love apple pie, but I like it cold better than hot.

My son asked me the same question. Pizza pie is just another name for a pizza. Now that two people have asked me about it I’m wondering if I made it up…
Nope ... back in the dark ages when I was a kid pizza was called pizza pie!

Have you heard of pi day before? As an adult, I don't think it was a "thing" when I was kid (dark ages, remember)

Are you a math lover or hater? I don't hate math, but it's not my thing ...
What's your favorite pie? Pizza pie? Pot pie? Fruit pie? Other? Probably warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream on top, since I no longer call pizza "pizza pie." I can't remember the last time I heard someone use the term ... until today!

We started celebrating a few years ago with either pie or pizza pie. Today I am making a pie and ordering pizza for dinner!
Not a math hater! Think it's a very important thing to learn!

Love pizza! And love pie when I make it myself!

lol re: dark ages. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has heard it called pizza pie. ;)

I’m so used to hearing people say they either love or hate math that it’s refreshing to hear you say it’s just not your thing. I can respect that.

Yay for two different pies today! I agree that math is important to learn and that pie is best homemade.

I just realized it was pi day when we sat down to dinner. The kids said we should have had pie...too late! LOL.

Math is pretty cool. I can help my kids get through Algebra 2 and then I'm lost.

I love dessert but pie is not my favorite. I would probably choose Pizza over pie.

I love that you say math is pretty cool. Algebra 2 is probably my favorite.

Are you a math lover or hater? I get by.

A "few" years (decades) I decided to back to school at the community college. Had to take placement tests for English and Math. English I placed in Honors, math??? Yeah I got sent back to Algebra I ... like I said math isn't my thing. My poor friend though got sent back to 6th grade math ... she wasn't particularly surprised either. In my defense I had graduated high school 20 years prior and didn't go to college.

Definitely had heard of pi before as I love math and especially loved geometry back in the day. My kids have had pi day at school many times where they get extra credit for bringing in a pi on that day. We didn't have that this year though.

We did eat pizza pie for dinner last night. Does that count? :giggle

I think it would be so hard to jump back into math after 20 years! I skipped math my senior year of high school and had to retake my last class when I started college because I couldn’t remember anything and that was just one year!

Everyone at my middle school talked about how horrible geometry was but I liked it! That’s awesome you kids got extra credit for bringing pie! And pizza totally counts!

Oh yeah!! I am a total math geek :)
Do you celebrate pi day? If so, how?
I took 2 pies to work for my co-workers and students. We had apple pie with vanilla ice cream and pecan pie.

LOVE. Math is my favorite
What's your favorite pie? Pizza pie? Pot pie? Fruit pie? Other?
Not much of a pizza eater, but I do love pot pie and pretty much all other pie! The only pie I really don't much care for is pumpkin. Key Lime is probably my favorite.
