Happy Leap Day!

This only happens every four years so I knew we had to talk about it today! ;)

Do you know anyone born on Leap Day?
If so, when do they celebrate their birthday?
Do you do anything special for Leap Day?

I’ve noticed a bunch of sales and special offers today because it’s Leap Day. Anyone taking advantage of those? I’ll be going to get a free dessert at Wendy’s here shortly.

Whether you’re celebrating or not, I hope you have a fabulous day!

Do you know anyone born on Leap Day? Yes, my paternal grandfather. He would have been 120 years old today, but only would have had 29 actual birthdays.

If so, when do they celebrate their birthday? He was 49 when I was born, so we just celebrated the weekend before or after when I was a kid. Usually went out to eat.

Do you do anything special for Leap Day? No.

That’s fun your grandfather was a leap day baby!

One of my Aunts was born on a Leap Day. She was never part of my life. so I don't know how she celebrates.

We don't do anything special for leap day, it's just another day.

I'm surprised two people here have relatives born on Leap Day.

Do you know anyone born on Leap Day? Yes, one of my high school friends married a guy born on Leap Day.
If so, when do they celebrate their birthday? He celebrates on the 28th (it was on my FB birthday list yesterday).
Do you do anything special for Leap Day? No, it is just an extra day in a cold month.

I do want to add that my mom's sister died on Leap Day in 1996. So my cousins do not have the yearly reminder of her death. Today is 28 years but only the 7th time of seeing it on the calendar. She was a surrogate mom to me and I posted a tribute to her on FB in 2016... it popped up on my memories today and it hit me hard. The photo I chose to use of her was with her oldest grandson. He passed away in 2022 unexpectedly at the age of 39. Two of the sweetest angels around.

I’m sorry it hit hard today. Big hugs to you. :heartslub

I remember the funny movie the Pirates of Penzance movie in the 80s where the one pirate was born on leap day so they said he was only 5 years old or something like that because he'd only had a few years with a real birthday. Lol. He was supposed to be done with his apprenticeship as a pirate when he turned 21, but they said he had to serve until his 21st birthday and said because of Leap day he had to serve 60+ more years. :giggle I should really watch that movie again. I used to love it!

I did see some good sales yesterday, but didn't take advantage of any of them.

That would be a fun movie to watch on leap day!
