Project Pages | January 2024

Oooh I'm so glad you started this, @StefanieS!! I was just coming here to do that!! I haven't even decided on my project yet. I'm going to put some thought in to it tomorrow and we'll see if I get started before MOC is over lol

I missed doing this last year and am kind of thinking of doing something like it again. I fell out of a scrapping routine and ended up only making 75 pages the whole year and half of those are from MOC, so the rest of the year didn't get as well scrapped. I have fewer photos that are album-worthy than I did several years ago, but I think I want to scrap a little more in February through December. And I think a regular project like this makes for a more thorough album. I'm going to set myself a reminder.

Have you ever done a monthly project instead of weekly? I'm pondering different approaches . . . :think

This has been a discussion on the PSP forum I belong to in the last couple of weeks. Some just can't fathom taking a photo every single day because they claim their life is "boring". I live the most boring life ever and still take at least one photo every day then put them on a single page layout for the week. The other posters seem to think that just doing one photo a week on a layout will work for them (they tend to do single photo layouts). I call my project "Week In Review" so even showing the boring stuff doesn't matter. I'm not highlighting events or even doing journaling, it is just a photographic journey through my week.

Liz has had templates in the past for a monthly project. The ones I used are now retired but they worked well for documenting Peyton's growth in her first 2 years (dogs change so fast!) She has a newer set called "Recap Bundle" with 2 pages for each month but it looks like you could use just one page if needed. So in other words I see nothing wrong with doing a monthly project if that is what works for you.

@HavaDrPepper I actually have those Recap templates and I'm using them right now to make some more pages for my 2023 album, trying to make up for having only made 75 pages during the year.
I hear you on one photo pages. I'm at a point in my life where I enjoy making photoless layouts, but when I use photos, usually I have more than one of the subject. So I'm using either zero photos or several photos!
I just need to make up my mind how I want to do the project.

@michelepixels
I have given myself permission this year to do as I please. I may do weekly, monthly overviews, more clustery event pages and artsy photoless. I feel like anything captured, documented and celebrated is better than nothing and this has removed the pressure off of me to begin with the end in mind. Instead I can play, create and just enjoy my favourite hobby as I want to. My kids will enjoy the photos and journaling years later regardless of how much I have actually included in my albums.

@StefanieS That’s a good point. In the past, to get back into a scrapping habit I designated a day for scrapping. Maybe I’ll do that again.

I've decided to go super simple on my weekly pages so that I can focus on some other scrapbook projects (plus I love this simple look).

I've started creating my Jan Review Templates for 2024...they are going to have a more filled project-life type look to them....if anyone is interested!

I'm still deciding! I keep saying I'm going to change it up, but I wind up with my tried and true Just Jaimee templates! As Meli is getting older (21 in Feb - sob!) I have less and less photos so maybe a page a week template might work better for us now.

I can’t decide on what size and templates I’m going to use this year. I have really enjoyed using the 9x12 stitched templates by NBK-Design last year, but I don’t know if I’m going to mix it up with something else this year. 12x12 feels so big, I like 9x12 better I think.

I’ve scrapped project Life style pages for years now and felt like I needed a change this year. So I’m doing a memory planner. In my mind it’s similar but I’m making it less structured and just layering a bunch of stuff on a dated page. Trying to follow along with FMS photo a day to make sure I have photos to scrap.

I LOVE your memory planner pages @dawnmarch! It’s the perfect size and I love the less structured design. I don’t want to be a copycat, but I’m really tempted to make something similar.

Oh, we’re all inspired by others and I certainly didn’t invent memory planning! Go for it!

This is super cool!
