I'm pretty sure my vacuum is about to bite the dust. I just replaced the belt on it and it broke again, plus it's making weird noises. I was looking around some last night, but can't decide what to get. I'd like something that doesn't break the bank, but also dose great with pet hair lol. So then I thought...ask my Lilypad peeps

Do you have a vacuum that you love?

I love my battery stick Dyson, I actually just upgraded to a new one. It just makes vacuuming so much easier.

I have a shark, but mine is about 15 years old now.. I love it though .. I hear the newer sharks are even better.. they may even have a heavy duty one for pet hair....good luck with your shopping

I have a shark stick kind of vacuum that I really like -- it has a hard floor attachment and a motorized head that works well for carpets. I switched to that from an old, clunky canister type vacuum and find the stick vacuum so much easier to use. That said, I am debating buying a cordless to make it even easier. Finding handy plugs is always a challenge in parts of our house.

I have an old Dyson and I really don't like it. I feel like it does even suck anything up. We have a vacuum store near us that also does sewing machine repairs. The sales guy was telling us about the Miele brand vacuums they sell and I was very intrigued. Doesn't sound like they are cheap though. Right after we were in there I mentioned it to a friend of mine and they have one of the Miele brand vac and they said they love it and they have ALL the pets. anyway, I'd love a new vacuum too, so I'm also just watching this thread for ideas. We have a mix of hardwood and carpet.

When we built our house a few years ago, I wanted an auto dustpan - where you sweep to it and it all gets sucked up... this morphed into a central vacuum. I LOVE it! I don't think I would want another place without it frankly.

We have a Miele and it works really well! We have a robot vacuum downstairs with all wood/tile floors on that level and carpet upstairs where I use the Miele. The robot vacuum runs everyday and is the Eufy brand.

I have a Shark Navigator "Lift Away" that I really like. It does a good job of picking up human hair and my granddog's hair when he stays with us.

I can't speak to the pet hair, but I bought a refurbished Dyson that has been good to me. I also recently got a cordless Dyson for quick clean up - I love it but wish the charge lasted a little longer. I've got an iRobot for my laminate floors. I had a Oreck years ago and still have it (it still works) but I didn't want to use it on the new floors when I got them 6 years ago. It is also heavy and it hurts my back to use it for long periods of time. So I got a Bissel Adaption Pet that has a hand vac unit in it. I will use it for quick messes in between the use of the iRobot.

I had a Shark several years ago and loved it. I can't remember why I didn't get another one, but I really missed it when I didn't have it!

I have an old clunky canister one right now and hate it. I may have to look in to the Sharks again. I really liked the one I used to have. Cordless would be great!

I have an EyeVac, which is basically an auto dustpan and I love it! Central vacuum would be amazing!!

I had never heard of Miele, but I'm definitely checking in to it! I'd really love to have a robot vac, but then I see all the horror stories and think what if my dog randomly throws up and I don't catch it right away lol.

I would love to upgrade to cordless when ours dies but it’s still going strong! I’ve had to replace the tube a few times because it cracked/broke.

I have a 'clunky canister' lol! I bought a Kenmore 600 Series Friendly Lightweight Bagged Canister Vacuum with Pet PowerMate with Pop-N-Go Brush. And it's purple which makes me happy. I love the pop n go brush on my hardwoods. I love that I can turn it on and off at the handle, not on the canister. I love the bags because it really traps the dust so much better than the bagless. I don't love the pulling it around, but it's not super bothersome. The pet brush works amazing on my stairs and couch.

I've had the upright bagless vacuums prior and they don't last long for us. Plus, the cords are always so short compared to my current vacuum. My mother in law had the stick vacuums, but they didn't seem to keep up with pet hair very well for me. I hate vacuum shopping, so good luck.

The last couple I've had have been bagless and I've often said that I prefer bags. I agree that they seem to trap everything so much better than bagless and I hate emptying the bagless ones. I also hate vacuum shopping lol. Thanks so much for the pet input!
