Ideal Birthday | Pad Patter 01.19.23

I like to acknowledged another personal rotation around the sun - a homage to life and being thankful for mine. I like to keep is simple though. A birthday cake is perfect!

This year, Don and I were with my parents. My mom baked me a fabulous cinnamon crunch cake. While the cake was cooling, and the family was downstairs working on a puzzle, my dog Obi ate the cake! :circlesWhat a stinker! My mom and I are still giggling over the event. The photo is all that remained of the cake.

My birthday is in July, and my ideal birthday is a day off work with some sunny weather so I can do some gardening, enjoy the sun and read my book. Or a day at the beach

I like to celebrate for at least a week.
I like multiple smaller friend groupings/events.
A great gift for me would be something that I wouldn't buy for myself, and yet something that resonates with me and lets me you "know" me so well.
I love that you celebrate at least a week Stefanie! That's a good way to have multiple smaller gatherings. I love that you included what you like to be gifted too. I like to be gifted food haha

I'm a all year round Grinch. I don't like any of the holidays, and I don't like birthdays. To be honest, my mom ruined it all for me, and I've never bothered to "reclaim" things. (Other than my son's birthdays and Christmas when he was a kid.) Mom made every holiday (including other's birthdays) be all about her and how she would want it. For us kids, it was all about shine and be happy for her sake - no matter what day it was.
I love you Grinch Eva. ;) I'm sorry your mom ruined it for you; that definitely takes the fun out of it!

I like to spend the day with family. That's it. The rest is trimmings that the people around me want/like but I can live without.
I love that family time is what you enjoy most about your birthday Angela. You are very blessed to have each other.

I have never really liked birthdays! I do like going out to eat and being with family, but mostly I just want it to be another day.

I like my birthday and usually use it as an excuse to get out of cooking. My favorite is to go out to dinner with my family, have ice cream and then open presents. :agree Even better if I get to have a weekend birthday and get to sleep in too! :agree
Amen to getting out of cooking AND sleeping in! What's your ice cream of choice? I always buy myself Tillamook rocky road ice cream during my birthday month. :)

Oh no Lisa! I can't believe Obi only left that little bit of the cake! Cinnamon crunch cake sounds so delicious! Ugh! I'm glad you and your mom can laugh about it at least.

A day off work definitely makes a birthday better (say that five times fast haha). I have a winter birthday so I'm jealous of your warm sunny birthdays! Not the gardening though...I'll leave the gardening to you. ;)

It's okay to not like birthdays Lynette; my husband is the same. Going out to eat and being with family is a good way to celebrate without making it a big deal.

I love blizzards from Dairy Queen for a birthday treat! :D If I'm going to the grocery store though it's usually mint chocolate chip.

My birthday is Dec 16, so even as a child I got used to the idea of a low-key affair. I don't mean I didn't get presents and a cake, I absolutely did! but the holiday season is busy, and there wasn't always time for a party...

I'm happy with a low-key birthday, not a lot of fuss. But I'm also happy to receive a nice birthday present!

Low-key birthdays are nice. Yes to receiving nice birthday presents!

I love my birthday, but don't usually make a big deal out of it. Maybe a dinner out with friends...if we can squeeze it in. My birthday is July 3rd, and that's right near Independence Day/4th of July celebrations here in the US. We usually have BBQ's, friend get togethers, fireworks and other things to do, so I just keep mum about my birthday, but secretly think all of the celebrations are all for me! haha! If someone says Happy Birthday, it's actually funny to see other people's surprised faces since I hadn't mentioned it!

DH and my kids knows the best part of my birthday is seeing fireworks! It's a must!

That’s fun you get to do all the Independence Day partying for your birthday. My older sister has a July birthday and she loves fireworks too!
