Hello! I'm having trouble with the Mommyish inked-edge action. I tried send (Leah) @mommyish a private message, but I've received no response.

Has anyone else used this action? I'd love to chat. Thanks!

Deborah which scrapping program are you using PSCC or PSE?
Is it this action?

I use PSE and might be able to download it and help you out. I'll go watch the youtube tutorial and see what it entails.

@keepscrappin
Yes, that's the action. I use Photoshop CC. I've run the action and it works, except it gives me a black rectangle inside the shape. See my attached photos.

@DivaMom96 - another thought is make sure you are using the action for PSCC and not the one for PSE. Double check your action panel to make sure you're using the correct action. You may want to delete the action and reinstall to make sure you're using the correct one.

OK - I'll try that when I get home.

@DivaMom96 I don't know about the black rectangle inside, but the black background on the last image is a peculiarity of PS where depending on what the background was of the document that was created last, it doesn't create the new document correctly when running some actions. You can try creating a new document with "Background Contents" set to Transparent just before you run the action so PS will remember that as its default.

Another quirk that I don't think is relevant in your case, but couldn't hurt to try, is to make sure your document is maximized out to full screen and is not in a floating window or a tabbed window when you run the action. It affects how things line up when the Paste step is run if the image is too big to fit on screen at 100%.

I hope those suggestions make sense. If not, I can try to do some screen shots. :)

@DivaMom96 - I'm wondering what has changed in Photoshop and PSE since this action was made in 2018? It worked great the very first time I ran it, but when I ran it again it gives me a black outline around the element like you've shown above. It seems like PSE isn't clearing out the settings because when I opened a new 12x12 document, it had grayscale color mode instead of RGB. I tried it in PSE 2022 and PSE 2019 and it worked great the first time but it always gives a black outline after that. I closed PSE, I made new documents, I tried different elements and always get the black outline after the initial run.

@keepscrappin - YES That's what's happening in PSCC. I guess I could erase the black outline or the black triangle. I know PSCC pretty well, but not to the level of that action.

I will try creating a new document and set the background to transparent. Good idea!
I usually have my documents tabbed (not floating). I'll try some things tonight when I get home.
Thanks, @KimJ !!!

Thanks Kim! :agree Setting the background contents to transparent before running the action worked in PSE 2022.

Even the tabs cause the paste problem (which, again, I doubt is actually the issue in this case). If you hit F to cycle through screen modes until you are just seeing the one document without the file name bar showing, that is the full screen mode that works most reliably in these weird cases. You may or may not need to hit Tab after that to bring back the visibility of your panels and tools.

Did it work correctly with the suggestions Kim offered?

@DivaMom96 I'm glad you were able to do a workaround. :agree I'm wondering if there is some not-visible-to-the-naked-eye minor partial transparency going on with the center of that tag shape you're using. Is the shape something you can share? If so, I'd love to play with it myself as my curiosity is totally piqued!

Sure! I'll pm you when I get home with the file. Thanks!

Deborah did you try the action on other pieces to see if you get the black in the middle? If it's only on that tag, then I bet Kim's right thinking there may be something in the middle of the tag causing it.
