I'll start...

I had this HUGE roll of paper that anything wrapped with it would be from Santa. One year my child found the smallest piece of strip of paper from when I wrapped the presents and started asking very uncomfortable questions.... from that year on I would burn the little leftovers after I wrapped the presents....

Your turn... what crazy thing you did to keep the magic alive!

We did the same thing - we had special paper that was only used for gifts that came from Santa!

We also set out the milk and cookies and dh would drink only 3/4 the glass of milk, leaving a little behind, so the kids would know that Santa had come (I'm really not sure why he didn't drink the whole glass of milk...he ate all the cookies!).

We also stay up later than the kids and stuff the stockings after they had gone to bed. Now that they are teens, they stay up way later than we do, so we stuff the stockings in the middle of the night (set an alarm). Well, getting closer and closer to morning, given how late our guys stay up these days!

Merry Christmas everyone!

One year we put together a Little Tikes slide set (probably about 6 x 6feet square and about 4 feet tall) it was heavy trying to get it to the backyard.

but one tradition was to mix glitter with oatmeal to sprinkle on the front walk for the reindeer. So I always had to go sweep some of it up to show that the reindeer ate their snack.

We don't do Santa at our house. Growing up, my parents told us we could not get up until it was light outside. We would wake at 4am and wait for it to get light out.

When my kids were little, they got up early. Now they stay up late so they sleep in. About 10 years ago, one Christmas I got up before the kids. I could not believe it, so I took pictures of them sleeping in. That is now a tradition. First person up takes pictures of everyone else sleeping on Christmas morning. I think it has only been me twice in all those years.

Haha, I've always done the same thing...leave a little in the glass :) I usually eat all the cookies, but leave a little piece or two on the plate.

So funny we all leave a bit if milk behind but we don’t pass on the cookies. LOL

We didn't wrap Santa gifts - they would be put together completely as if Santa's elves had done them. So anything that was purchased that had to be assembled would have to be unwrapped and unattached from all its packaging - and then the packaging secretly disposed of.

We also left a bit of milk and would leave a bit of cookie too. But I don't really eat gluten (and we couldn't leave gluten free cookies for Santa) and so would have to make my husband eat them all or throw them away (which always made me feel terrible).

I changed our Elf Magic dolls to be in line with Elf on a Shelf. When my kids were little I bought Elf Magic; not Elf on a Shelf. I actually gave my kid them to play with. The first few years they visited my kids took those elves everywhere. Then Elf on a Shelf became an obsession (or I became aware of it, I'm not sure which it really was), and I felt the stress of having to do what the other parents were doing so I started the stupid crazy stuff that tired us out. But we still never took away the rule that my kids could touch their elves. LOL

i told DS he was old enough to know now about the 'tradition' of Santa the other night (he turned 12y.o. yesterday) and he said but he still wanted to believe and i felt terrible, like i ruined it and took away his last shred of xmas joy but i also didn't want him going to highschool being the only kid that didn't know, y'know - i'm sure he started questioning it randomly like 3 or 4years back & then we had doubled our efforts & DD helped with the whole fantasy more but i guess there was enough of him that still held on to it & so at least i won't be re-wrapping boxes in special paper Xmas eve again - now i don't know what to do about other 'traditions' and easter will be here before we know it!

We don't do Santa either - my kids do know the story of the real Saint Nicholas.

I say getting presents for 7 kids (making sure it's all kind of "even"), having them all wrapped, getting stockings stuffed, making sure we have a yummy Christmas breakfast is enough crazy for me. LOL.

The craziest thing for us lately is staying up later than the 4 teenage boys in the house. They tried really hard to go to bed by 10:30 this year, but they were so wound up that they could go to sleep until midnight. My sister and I were SOOOO tired waiting for them to go to bed. Ha ha!
