Today is Pecan Pie Day. It seemed kind of weird to me that it's in the middle of July because I don't normally associate this time of year with Pecan Pie. I really do love pie, not necessarily Pecan, but I typically prefer pie to cake or other desserts. My favorites are Key Lime, Lemon, Chocolate, and Coconut Cream.
How about you?
Pecan Pie fan?
Have another favorite pie?
Oh and most importantly, how do you pronounce Pecan?
pah-KAHN
puh-CAN
PEE-can
PEE-kahn
pee-KAHN
pee-CAN
:giggle

I would never have guessed Pecan Pie Day to be in July either! I love pee-KAHN pie! With real whipped cream, of course! My other favorite is Key Lime and also a local restaurant makes a German Chocolate pie that is oh-so-yumm :)

I used to make an amazing chocolate pecan pie. It was so good! I stopped making it when I couldn't eat nuts or eggs anymore. Sigh.

But my favorite for forever pie will always be boysenberry. Yum.

And I say pea-kahn.

Oooh the German Chocolate sounds divine!

Ohhh that sounds delicious! I'm feeling a great need to make pie right now haha. Boysenberry YUMMMM

Nope, not a fan of pecan pie. My favorite is strawberry with lots of whipped cream. Then there was that chocolate/peanut butter pie that was a specialty as a restaurant in the area over 20 years ago but closed about 15 years ago. I also will not turn down pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream during the holidays.

Pecan Pie fan? ABSOLUTELY

Have another favorite pie? Pumpkin, sweet potato, blueberry, apple, Boston creme, coconut cream, key lime, lemon, chocolate, banana cream,

pee CAN!
I've never had pecan pie though. But it sounds like something I would like. I too prefer pie to cake. My absolute favourite is apple pie - with custard in the winter and vanilla ice-cream in the summer. Yum!!!:yup

It's been a really long time since I've had "pee-KAHN" pie. I think it was one of my grandparents favorites, so my Mom would make it for them occassionally, but I can't even remember which grandparent now. huh. I like it, but it is SO super sweet that I can't even finish a piece. I do pie though... mostly fruit pies. I like cherry best I think, then apple and blueberry. OH and Lemon Meringue! I LOVE that. We had a restaurant nearby that made the best Lemon meringue pie, but they went out of business. So sad. :giggle

I remember Granny making pecan pies all year. There were always a few at family reunions, which were typically in the summer. Hers were the best! I can't eat them now because they're way too sweet and rich (I can't eat much anymore if it's too sweet or rich :(). pee-con is the closets phonetically that I can come to how we pronounce it.

I can't do really rich or sweet either. That's why I'm not a huge fan of pecan and peanut butter pie, it's always so rich!
