but i feel like this is one, like i should know the answer to it but i can't remember it and it's driving me crazy.
I stupidly reset my workspace and nothing is as it 'should be' now and of course, i can't remember how i had it set up but that's not my question. So you know in templates that have a heap of layers and I love that they come preshadowed and all (i really do), but is there a way to like minimise all the fx drop down menus in like one click, or is there a tick a box option for it so i don't have a hundred layers all open like this?

i know i can click the little arrow next to the fx at the top of each one but i'm too lazy for that and adobe wouldn't make us do that manually, right?! i'm in CS6

Justine, if you click on the top layer and hold shift and click on all layers you want changed highlighted then click on the arrow of the top layer chosen and they will all be closed.

yess! that's it! whoohoo! thank you!!!

Side note: once you get your workspace the way you want it, you can save it. The. If reset it in the future, it's not big deal.

Yep I'm gonna have to go that. I knew you *could * save it, but I didn't know why you'd bother - now I know!

Paint Shop Pro has that feature as well and it comes in very handy when installing a new version of the program. I customize my tool bar take out a lot of their shortcuts and put the things I use the most on them. As long as they don't take away the ability to load an older program's desktop, I'm golden. But I do have a written copy of what is on my tool bar just in case!

Actually, I have several versions of a desktop saved. There are times when my eyes can't handle a dark background so I have a lighter background version I use. I also have a version for my laptop setup, it differs slightly from the desktop version because of the size of the screen.
