So today is Go for a Hike Day! Pretty much the only hiking I have done today is up and down the stairs with Christmas stuff :giggle.
I do like to hike, but haven't been for awhile. DH refuses to go with me anymore since I took him on a 2 mile hike up a mountain to see a waterfall and didn't warn him in advance lol. Today would have been a great day for it here with sunshine and warm temps, but I just don't have it in me.
Do you like to hike? Go on any hikes lately?
 
I have never been on "a hike" but does several walks around the block a day with my dog count? Hahaha It's a fairly big block.
 
Hiking up a mountain to see a waterfall sounds absolutely amazing. I love to hike but haven't had the chance to for years ... and tbh these days I probably wouldn't get far before I started regretting it - but I'd do it anyway.

Yep...the view at the top is totally worth it to me, but I'd probably be second guessing myself along the way these days haha.
 
I hiked up to see a double waterfall a couple of Thanksgivings ago when we were in Georgia. It was about 9 weeks after my back surgery, and I was still healing. I managed to make it to the top, but I had to stop several times on the way up. It was supposed to be an easy hike according to my hubby, but I think some wires got crossed and he was thinking of another waterfall because it was steep and definitely more than a few hundred feet. LOL He carried a folding camp chair for me and set it up whenever I needed to sit down. I was super proud of myself for making it up, and as much as I was in pain and uncomfortable at the time and for days afterwards, I really did love seeing the beautiful woods and the lovely waterfall. It made for some amazing photos as well.

Hubby actually took a mile hike this morning helping my sister and her boyfriend look for their dog that got away off her leash. They still haven't found her - she's been missing since Tuesday - but they've had sightings so they know she's alive and not injured. If we had more hiking areas, I'm sure my hubby would be doing that left, right, and twice on Sundays. I've never been one to exercise, but if I'm walking to shop or see something pretty, it does make it better than just walking around the block. LOL
 
We recently did an amazing hike along the Kootenai River near Libby, Montana. It wasn't the easy hike the reviewers described, but it was worth it, and I'd do it again (but probably not the suspension bridge portion). I made several layouts in the gallery about the experience. We hiked from the time our now 40-something kids were in backpacks. Not so much any more...now the closest we come to regular hiking is walking 18 holes of golf, and it has been awhile since I've done that (usually ride a cart). But another incredible and relatively easy hike a couple years ago, was into a slot canyon near Knab, Utah. Experience of a lifetime.

Good for you making that hike! I'm sure it was really difficult! I adore waterfall photos. They were my dad's favorite to take and I have several of his huge prints.
I hope your sister finds her dog!

I would love to go on some hikes out west. I've seen some amazing videos recently. I'm going to have to go look for your layouts! Suspension bridges kinda freak me out, too.
 
Last year we took a trip to Utah and Arizona. While in Utah we visited Zion National park, DH talked me into a very short hike to see one of the small waterfall. Since I am totally out of shape this was not a pleasant walk. I would love to hike more, but not until I start some sort of workout routine to get me into some sort of hiking shape.
 
I love hiking! We do quite a lot of it when we go camping, because what else are you going to do other than sit around the campsite. :giggle We don't do as much as we should/could do around here either. We have lots of wooded areas with trails and we forget to go use them when it's not a planned vacation type thing. We used to do more around here when the kids were little and we did a lot of geocaching though. I should make plans to do that with my kids now, I'm sure they'd still like it, especially since they both have their own phones to help with the navigating portion.
 
We love hiking and camping! But with DH's thyroid and ankle issues, we haven't been for a long time!!! Hopefully both issues will be cleared by late February- and if we are still in the Carolinas, there are LOTS of places to do both. Love climbing King's Mountain, Black Mountain, Bald Rock, Ceasar's Head, etc.

I have seen some amazing hiking places in Utah! For some reason, I ended up following a bunch of Utah Instagrammers lol. I would love to travel that way! But yes, I'm a little out of shape these days, too.

Same here. We have so many places around here we could go hiking, and tend to only do it on vacation haha. Chance and I used to do a lot of geocaching, too, and really should start again now that he's a little older and could do more on his own.

Beautiful photo and video! A couple of my favorite places are in NC - Grandfather Mountain and Chimney Rock. There are lots of other places there I would love to visit and we are not that far away.
 
We LOVE hiking and we live in Western North Carolina - lots of places and opportunities to hike.

Our kids have grown up hiking so they all do well at it. Some like it better than others.

These are some we do every year that are close by - Siler Bald, Whiteside Mountain, Glenn Falls, parts of the Bartram Trail....

@IntenseMagic - We've hiked Grandfather Mountain and Chimney Rock!
@AJK - what are of the Carolina's are these in? We may have to check them out.
 
I enjoy hiking. My friend and I walk together once a week and probably at least a third of our walks could be called hikes, as they're in woods, on unpaved trails, instead of the city.

I've hiked to a few waterfalls in my life and they are favorite memories. One was in Yosemite in the 1990's and I have some photos, at least one of which has made it onto a scrapbook page. There was a place in Los Angeles my husband and I hiked several times in the late 1990's which had a water feature at the end. I forget whether it was a pond or creek or whether there was a waterfall, but we considered it a refreshing reward in the middle of the hike.
 
we go on lots of family walks, but i wouldn't go as far as to call them hikes. I walk around town several miles to places, but I've not really hiked properly since before getting pregnant.
 
I guess I missed out on National Hiking Day. I have only been out "walking" not hiking with Taz lately b/c the weather has turned and we've been getting lots of rainy muddy days. Now I'm waiting for a clear frosty morning so we can go hiking along the water and I can take pics of the scenery. Photographing mud right now isn't much fun :)
 
I was just thinking this morning that I needed to take more hikes. I have a friend that likes to hike and have taken short (1 to 2 hours) hikes with her. I was also thinking I should do some photography hikes.

One summer we went to the mountains of NC and hiked to see 6 waterfalls. After about the 5th one, the kids started to rebel. It went sour when we thought were doing a short 1/4 mile hike to see one waterfall, so we left the water and snacks in the car. But dh convinced us to go on a 1.5 mile hike to see another waterfall without going to the car first for our supplies. That was a mistake and the waterfall was pretty much non-existent when we got to it. After that, they refused.
