Hey everyone! I don't know about you, but with fall and Halloween this week it's been busy around here It also feels like everything revolves around munchkin. So, I thought a fun fast five about you would be fun! Here goes:

1) What are you reading lately?
2) What are you listening to lately?
3) What are you photographing lately?
4) What's something you are loving?
5) What's something you are hating?

I can't wait to read a little about you today!

1) What are you reading lately?
I've been reading the Lucy Kincaid series. It's about an FBI agent in Violent Crimes so definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Also, a ton of children's books for my child lit class.

2) What are you listening to lately?
The Beatles. We watched the movie Yesterday, and it reminded me of how much I enjoy the Beatles music.

3) What are you photographing lately?
Everything! The rocks, halloween costumes. We hit a farm over the weekend and I took pictures of the corn maze.

4) What's something you are loving?
I'm loving how much energy and warmer I feel now that my iron stores are being built up. Yeah, boring. Okay, I'm also loving my photography class. And nerds - the candy.

5) What's something you are hating?
Grave shifts. Ugh. I can't wait for DH to be back on days! Someday.....

Here you go, great questions.

1) What are you reading lately? About the Night by Anat Talshir It is a well-written book..think Romeo and Juliet in 1947 Palestine.
2) What are you listening to lately? Nothing unfortunately.
3) What are you photographing lately? Yesterday was a pie-eating contest. Great fun!! Alex's first homecoming was a photo op last weekend too.
4) What's something you are loving? The fall colors are just stunning-pure eye candy.
5) What's something you are hating? The rainy season is just beginning and the constant drizzle, yuck.

1) What are you reading lately? Mostly a bunch of short stories for the English 10 I'm teaching for the homebound instruction I'm doing after school. Nothing for fun unfortunately...no time.

2) What are you listening to lately? Mostly podcasts in the car - Crime Junkie and The Vanished, or whatever the 14 year old wants to listen to lol.

3) What are you photographing lately? Ugh, not much these days. I was just thinking last night that I need to take some pictures! We don't have great fall colors this year because we had like no rain from June until a week or so ago, so all the leaves are just dying and falling.

4) What's something you are loving? Spirit Week at school this week for homecoming. It's fun to dress up every day. Yesterday was PJ day, today is Decades Day (wearing my fav 70's attire), tomorrow is Meme Day (I'm going as Ermahgerd Girl), and Thursday is Halloween dress up (my friends and I are doing Hocus Pocus). It just makes it a little awkward when I have places to go after work haha.

5) What's something you are hating? The time change coming up this weekend :(

I'm loving how much energy and warmer I feel now that my iron stores are being built up.
Ooooo... this reminds me that I really should start taking the iron my doctor said I needed... six months ago. o_O

5) What's something you are hating? The time change coming up this weekend :(
I hadn't realized this was coming up now. I will be glad for the extra light in the morning, but wish it didn't come at the expense of dark evenings, and the change itself always messes me up for a couple of weeks. :thumbsdowns

1) What are you reading lately? Nothing. I always feel guilty towards my childhood bookworm self when this question comes up. It's been many years since I read for pleasure. :blush

2) What are you listening to lately? Liz Story's Solid Colors - lovely moody piano music that seems to fit perfectly with the changing season.

3) What are you photographing lately? DD and her friend group at a park before the Homecoming dance this past Saturday. The biggest group they've ever gone with (7 of them) made it hard to get good shots with all of the mammarazzi's, but it was lots of fun. :thumbsups

4) What's something you are loving? That the pain in my arm from tendinitis and tennis elbow has finally subsided enough to allow me to resume semi-normal activities. :yesss It started in July then got worse and worse until I went to an orthopaedist in late August and got wrist and elbow braces. I'm still in the elbow brace all of the time for a few more weeks, but only have to wear the wrist brace at night.

5) What's something you are hating? The ridiculous cost of health insurance. DH and I have both had a lot of health issues this year and the coverage that makes us most comfortable with the current situation costs more than our mortgage! :cornfused

1) What are you reading lately?
WWII books, mostly centered around and written for children, like The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and books about Anne Frank (her diary and the "Who Was" book about her). My kids are also reading them and we're having mini book clubs (not that I've called them that: the kids would rebel!). If there's time, I want to re-read The Hiding Place and have my daughter read it, too. (This is all to prepare my kids for our upcoming European vacation. As young USAmerican kids, their knowledge of the World Wars is quite limited, so I wanted to make sure they had a proper understanding and respect.)
2) What are you listening to lately?
B*tch Sesh podcast. I'm re-listening to all of them. I listen while doing housework or bathroom reno work.
3) What are you photographing lately?
Um, the powder room reno. I want to document EVERY step.
4) What's something you are loving?
How the powder room is looking.
5) What's something you are hating?
How long the powder room reno is taking lol.

1) What are you reading lately? Dancing with Destiny by Jill Austin
2) What are you listening to lately? My Youtube playlist
3) What are you photographing lately? Nothing. Still recovering from the surgery. Thought about catching these crazy bandages hubster put over my sutures- they will definitely be replaced before I go to surgeon appt, LOL! Haven't seen any Fall color here yet- hope it isn't like recent years when we didn't have enough cool nights to create the color!
4) What's something you are loving? My studio.:heartslub:happydance2 It took a full year to get it truly functional. Not the esthetics I want yet, but at least the confusion is gone! I have four areas now, each dedicated to specific media.
5) What's something you are hating? The separation of my family (with my Birthday being Sunday, and holidays following) and that it contradicts all the principles we taught our son.:shakehead Makes me nauseous. He is all about reconciliation.:grouphug If only the limitless depth and breadth of God's love was truly understood...:pray:heartlub

@KimJ - yes- the dreaded time change, lol! Makes my body clock spin for about two weeks. And I haven't read for pleasure since my last year of teaching High School. Book I mentioned above I started a year ago, ha!

1) What are you reading lately? I'm doing much more writing than reading these days, but whatever poetry I can get my hands on and political essays/blog posts/articles.

2) What are you listening to lately?
I finally fell into podcasts, been listening to Trillbilly Worker's Party - it's such a pleasure to hear accents that sound like family (they're based out of Whitesburg, Kentucky), and the woman in the group cusses more than I do, it's awesome. As far as music, I've been sticking with the essentials, lots of Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins, and I'm still stuck on Myintrotoletyouknow by Outkast. It has such an amazing rhythm and flow.

3) What are you photographing lately?
Sadly, nothing - although I did get a shot of the sweet little black snake that visited me recently.

4) What's something you are loving? Being able to buy/cook whatever I want, without having to worry about someone else's dietary restrictions (or sharing! The mom and the boy don't eat what I do). I've gone through half a tin of Old Bay in the last two weeks.

5) What's something you are hating?
The sadness and grief I keep tripping over, like a shoe left in the middle of the floor that I'm too distracted to notice.

Hard same - I spent 40+ years reading at least 2-3 books a week; when I got sick I just ... stopped reading. The brain fog made it impossible, and I've yet to find a way to get back to it (novels, that is; I can manage poetry and short stories or essays). To this day I'm still guilty and embarrassed about it.

1) What are you reading lately? The best book I've recently read is last week I devoured Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel in one day. You can read my Goodreads review. Since then I've been slogging through Flyover Lives by Diane Johnson. The topics of history and genealogy usually fascinate me, but the book is boring sometimes. I'm beginning to skim through and skip parts of it just to call it done because it's due back at the library today. Next, I'm finally going to start reading Educated by Tara Westover, which I checked out last week, I think, and it's sitting here waiting on my desk. That was one of our TLP book club picks some time ago; I'll have to find that thread when I finish.

2) What are you listening to lately? Lots of podcasts and very little music. Today while making and eating breakfast I listened to the latest episode of Pod Save America. I also listen to a lot of Stuff You Should Know and TED Talks, and I've been listening regularly, on Mondays, to a serial fiction podcast called Passenger List about a woman trying to solve the mystery of a plane that disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean with her brother on board. When I occasionally listen to music (via the YouTube Music app), my current favorite song is High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco and I still like Pentatonix, and also Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, and of course my own daughter, Rhiannon Kendzie (who you can find on YouTube and SoundCloud).

3) What are you photographing lately? snapshots of scenes of where I happen to be, just to record my life in my journal, and sometimes quick, sloppy shots of my kids when we're hanging out

4) What's something you are loving? hanging out with my kids

5) What's something you are hating? bigotry, racism, homophobia, this presidential administration, and -- always -- closed mindedness

I had to rush the last few answers because I've run out of time for playing at TLP. (Bummed I can't make it to the speed scrap today!!!)

(((hugs))) Nothing to feel guilty or embarrassed about. I don't remember (if I knew) what your situation is, but if you miss it, I hope you're able to get back to it eventually. I just can't seem to muster up the interest or patience to sit and read anymore.

1) What are you reading lately? another book in The Pam of Babylon Series, by Suzanne Jenkins.
2) What are you listening to lately? Christian Rock and Country
3) What are you photographing lately? the Halloween decorations in the neighborhood
4) What's something you are loving? The weather is getting just slightly cooler
5) What's something you are hating? That I can't see fall - I go through withdrawal every year.

1) What are you reading lately? I started reading The Count of Monte Cristo about two weeks ago. I try to read at least one "classic" each year. I'm surprised that once I got used to the writing style and flow, it's actually an interesting and pleasurable read!

2) What are you listening to lately? I've been listening to a few playlists on Spotify - autumn, jazz, piano, and 80's music. I just got a new record player, so I've been listening to vinyl!

3) What are you photographing lately? Usually just selfies. I haven't gone out and taken photographs in so long!

4) What's something you are loving? I'm loving sugar free Jell-O and Cool Whip. It's my fave thing right now.

5) What's something you are hating? Mmmm, hate? Maybe dislike? If so, that would be how much longer it takes to cook healthy food. LOL

1)What are you reading lately?
I'm having trouble with reading, it takes me ages to be able to concentrate and remember, so I am still reading book 2 of The Spice Cafe Trilogy: Spells & Oregano
2) What are you listening to lately?
A LOT of Brazilian Country music and Beatles
3) What are you photographing lately?
mmm not much, well, actually, LOTS of Sarita's sitting in my bed when she comes to eat with me!!! LOL... I really need to get on taking photos!!! I spent the past two days not just in bed, but had to be completely horizontal as my right side decided to give me a hard time....and taking photos of my bedroom would make for a depressing page LOL
4) What's something you are loving?
My cousin and his wife who are helping me deal with my mum's flat sale, issues with my brother, etc Thank God for Face Time and WhatsApp to be able to be there, even though we are 7000 miles away!!!
5) What's something you are hating?
don't know the word is "hating" but hugely dislike, annoys me and makes my body hurt in exhaustive ways: the weather getting cold and miserable..... :(

PS: I forgot to mention, Courtney..... I miss SO SOOOOOO much those days in which my life revolved around Sarita... it does these days too, but in a much different way... you are an awesome mum :heartlub:heartlub:heartlub:heartlub

Romeo and Juliet in 1947 Palestine
Oh! I'm intrigued. Adding this to my to read list!

Mostly podcasts in the car - Crime Junkie and The Vanished, or whatever the 14 year old wants to listen to lol.
My latest podcast? Today in True Crime. It might be enjoyable to you.

Mostly a bunch of short stories for the English 10 I'm teaching for the homebound instruction I'm doing after school.
I get this! I have 60 children's books to read in 12 weeks this semester. After reading some of them, I need my adult books!

Ooooo... this reminds me that I really should start taking the iron my doctor said I needed... six months ago.
I avoided it. But I finally found one that doesn't make me nauseous and I've been surprised at how much it actually has helped. Granted, my iron was so low I was constantly chewing ice and craving raw potatoes.

The ridiculous cost of health insurance. DH and I have both had a lot of health issues this year and the coverage that makes us most comfortable with the current situation costs more than our mortgage
I'm sorry. That really really sucks. Ours is going up again this year and it drives me bonkers.

Um, the powder room reno. I want to document EVERY step.
That's going to be so awesome when it's done!

WWII books, mostly centered around and written for children
My son and I recently read one that was a choose your adventure based in reality. It's World War II An Interactive History Adventure by Elizabeth Raum. It's cool because it's real people's stories if you were in America, Canada, or Netherlands? I believe is the third one.

Thought about catching these crazy bandages hubster put over my sutures- they will definitely be replaced before I go to surgeon appt
Oh! You should totally grab that photo! My mother in law loved being able to look back at how it had healed and everything.

I have four areas now, each dedicated to specific media.
Oh! I can't wait to see it!

I'm doing much more writing than reading these days, but whatever poetry I can get my hands on and political essays/blog posts/articles.
Are you going to do NaNoWriMo?

To this day I'm still guilty and embarrassed about it.
Don't be. You read for 40+ years. That's quite a long time to have any habit!

to a serial fiction podcast called Passenger List about a woman trying to solve the mystery of a plane that disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean with her brother on board.
Oh! That sounds interesting.

another book in The Pam of Babylon Series, by Suzanne Jenkins
I've never heard of this before! I'll check it out.

That I can't see fall - I go through withdrawal every year.
I usually do. A desert fall is very different from a northern fall. But I'm really trying to embrace the beauty of the desert.

I try to read at least one "classic" each year.
Oh! That's an awesome goal.

Mmmm, hate? Maybe dislike? If so, that would be how much longer it takes to cook healthy food.
I'm trying a new meal plan type service (free month trial). It's helping me see how prepping can make cooking healthier still quick. Once I get used to cooking this way, it can be fast like the way I'm used to.

The Spice Cafe Trilogy: Spells & Oregano
Sounds interesting!

taking photos of my bedroom would make for a depressing page
It's all in the way you present it. Your walls could write about what you are wishing and thinking and daydreaming about as you hang out in the bed.

I forgot to mention, Courtney..... I miss SO SOOOOOO much those days in which my life revolved around Sarita... it does these days too, but in a much different way... you are an awesome mum
Thanks! I know it won't always be this way. And October is one of those months where I love all the activities so it makes it easier.

1) What are you reading lately? Nothing at the moment
2) What are you listening to lately? Becky Higgins : Cultivating a good life podcast
3) What are you photographing lately? Flowers and the cats
4) What's something you are loving? Warmer weather, longer sunny hours
5) What's something you are hating? Waiting for the kids to finish exams and come home
