It's National Waterpark Day! We plan on heading to the big waterpark one day this week. We haven't been able to go as much this summer as I had planned, the days just got away from me. But I'm hoping we get to make a couple of trips before school starts, and hopefully hit a couple of smaller ones that are closer, too.

Do you enjoy waterparks? Been to any recently?
 
I despise them. Walking around in a bathing suit, being hot, getting sunburned, hungry, tired...blech!!!!!

HOWEVER - Melissa adores them. She has a friend that has a season pass, and he gets a guest pass every time - so he brings her almost every week. SHe's having a blast!

I think I'm just too old for them.
 
I'm not the biggest fan of the water & neither is my little so waterparks are not high on my list of places to visit. We do have a local water playground (which would kinda be like a waterpark for little kids) that I'm planning on taking the little to tomorrow while his sister is at her grandparents' this week.
 
I don't think I'd go if I didn't have kids, but I have fun when I go to waterparks with my kids. Last year we had season passes to Kings Dominion, which is an amusement park with a huge water park, 45 minutes south of us, so we went many times. I'm a little nervous on slides and won't go on the extreme ones. My favorite was probably the one with the huge 4 person inner tubes. It zoomed down the slide super fast, but the bigger size felt safer. Oh! They also have a "lazy river" which I like to joke is the longest ride in the whole park. It's just a wiggly oval shaped pool-like thing with a current. You grab an inflatable -- either a single or a double -- and hop in, then let the current push you around until you return to the starting point. It probably lasts 10 minutes, which is like 5 times as long as an average roller coaster, right? :D It's definitely very relaxing!
 
These days no.

But I loved going to the swimming pool (no such thing as waterparks in those days) when I was in school. I do love water rides at amusement parks if it is an extremely hot day but I don't get to many amusement parks either. Just too hard to walk that much these days.
 
My physical limitations make those parks tough for me to enjoy. I'd rather go to the river/creek and float around, or go to our fabulous white beaches and enjoy the waves of the gulf.
 
I like water parks more than I do amusement parks these days, because the rides are a little less extreme and that fits me just fine at my age. :giggle The only thing I don't like it wearing my bathing suit in public and walking around in it all day. Blah! I think it's been about a year since I went to one with a JH youth group, but we are going to Cedar Point in a couple of weeks and are doing the roller coasters one day and then the water park the 2nd day. The kids are beyond excited. :agree
 
@Karen have fun at Cedar Point. I'm very partial to it.

I grew up going there and when it is mentioned always bring back fun memories. I love coasters but not sure the body can handle them anymore. My favorite though is an oldie but goodie... Blue Streak. Nothing like a rickety wooden coaster!

I'm better with them now that the kids are older and I can spend some of the time just sitting in a chair haha. We have season passes, but this park is about 3 hours away and we have found ourselves short on time to go.

We just had a splash pad open not far from my house and I want to take the grandkids, but I'm a little concerned about the $12 it costs to get in. Seems a little steep for a small splash pad.

We have season passes for Carowinds, but it's about a 3 hour drive, so we just haven't been able to go much. I like that huge 4 person one, too! I am a huge fan of the lazy river!!!

I'm much more agreeable to going now that the kids are older and can run off and ride things on their own some of the time and I can sit on a lounge chair or float :)

One of these days I am going to live close enough to a beach to spend my days there :) My retirement dream!!

I've been to a waterpark once in my lifetime...about 25 years ago! But I think I would enjoy it even now. Although I don't like taking my kids to the swimming pool, so maybe not. :crazy I do like roller coasters and the slide at our local pool. Oh wait, my hubby and I did go to the Atlantis waterpark 10 years ago on a cruise excursion. We loved it! I loved all the crazy rides along with relaxing on the lazy river. How did I forget this!
 
I love them! Several summers in a row we got season passes to Water Country and Busch Gardens at Williamsburg. The Colossal Curl is a favorite of ours. I loved this video of the executives of the park riding it for the first time.

p.s. I got a light beach cover-up that I wore over my swimsuit all day long - even on the rides. It didn't add any heat, but it did give me more coverage.
 
Are you kidding? I didn't know this, and we actually went to Cedar Shores water park on Sunday. First time this season. It was super hot, and I wanted to rent a pavilion but they were all sold out for that day. My plan was to hit the water rides in Cedar Point before we left, but everyone was tired. We had a good time--it's more about the family time instead of water fun for me.
