I was just wondering...how many of you kept journals or diaries as kids? Or still do for that matter?

Personally I was never very good at it. I have lots of diaries, but they have just a few pages completed. It is highly likely that I would get one as a gift at Christmas, use it for a few days in January and then forget about it.

I started a personal/private blog a year or two ago that again, I use on occasion. It is nice to just write freely about whatever is on your mind. Especially if something is really bothering you, at least for me, if I can write down my negative feelings, then I can let them go. Same things with lists, once I write them down, my brain doesn't have to waste all the useless energy trying to remember them. And it is also a great place to capture those stories I want to tell at some point. So I like my little private blog, just need to remember to use it more. I did just spend a few minutes to capture today.

I suck at this. I am so bad about keeping up with it. And then I feel guilty about it. And then it starts gathering dust. I never could as a kid and still don't, lol. But I love the idea of it!

i've always been a writer at heart, so i have a gazillion journals. i still keep journals, but mostly for my study and personal time. not so much about what happened in a day, but more about things i'm thinking about or whatever. i have about 10 journals full from the past 4 years. yup, it's kind of rediculous really :giggle

i also blog on a fairly regular basis, just to keep track of daily stuff, but definitely not every day.

I've had quite a few over the years. Since I started journaling on my scrapbook pages I find I don't use my notebooks quite as much as I used to. Right now I'm kinda into Art Journaling, it's a fun way to combine a bunch of things I like to do.

I didn't because i was always worried about my sister or mom reading them LOL

Nope:) I'm like Lisa, I would get one for Christmas or something, use it for a day or two and then forget about it. I don't have one now either.

I had one when i was young and I tried to write something everyday... and when I read these diarys now it was really worth it because it made me laugh a lot...
For now, I wish I could just write the funny things down my son does every day, but most of the time I forget and after I`m sad that I don`t remember the situation... but I`m really not good in writing. Sometimes its even hard for me to write a journaling for a LO.

This is me totally. If you write something down, someone else can get ahold of it. I have always been more comfortable just keeping stuff in my head where it's only mine.

I have been journaling more on my layouts, which I love. I guess that's as close as I will get to a journal.

I am so bad at it. I start a lot of times and keeps for two or three days. I love tha idea nad love writing, but it is hard for me to keep things daily.

Ive kept a journal for years and its just been the past 3 years or so that I havent written in one. I would especially write a lot when going through some sort of drama or stress. Very theraputic.

For both my daughters, I kept one while I was pregrant and then write in it from time to time over the years... just letters to them, how I am feeling, how they are growing, my wishes for them, that kind of thing. Recently I gave my oldest DD hers. She got to see baby names I was considering when I was preggers with her and all the thoughts and feelings I had, how excited I was, how sick I felt (LOL), etc. It was pretty cool!

This is such a good idea. What a great treasure for them to have. I do have a little calendar my mom got me while I was pregnant and I did write in it for probably the first half of the pregnancy.

I did as a teenager, it was half diary and half scrapbook where I would stick stuff in, receipts, music charts. It was the year I went from quiet 15yo schoolgirl to dating a 19 year old boy and there were things in there I did not want anyone else to see. When I moved out of home I couldn't find it and was so freaked out!!

I used to be much better about it than I am now. It was definitely more of the therapeutic kind though, where I could work things out on the page to clear my mind. Since I started scrapping and blogging, I very rarely journal, partly because blogging and scrapping (with plenty of journaling) fills some of that need to have the sort of release that writing things out brings, but also partly because life is just busy being a mom.

I am so thankful that I have my journals from many moons ago in college and stuff because I can completely see ways that I have grown as a person. I have never been so great at capturing the little everyday moments and I think that my blog and scrapping is helping me with that.

Amy, I love that idea and completely wish that I had done that with my boys. What a precious gift you are giving them!
